popping bubble

#1

Here’s a playblast of a popping bubble I’m working on…
my reference for this is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eV6Wh-KX3bY

using maya 2011…
the bubble is nCloth with an air and turbulence field on them…
the bubble is also emitting nparticles… haven’t tweaked much of it…
on the nParticles I have the drag keyframed as well as the rate on the emitter…

I also have a ramp (for now) animated on the emitter so the particles will emit in the right places…

Alright!! Let me have it!!! :buttrock:

Here is the update on the bubble, fully shaded and got a burst to it…
what do you think?

hey man , I like ur bubble. It seems full of trick u r trying to put in to.
but hey I m doing my project about ncloth as well and it doesnt seem to have any comment on ncloth things at all. May be we can start c&c each other.555
see my work. Enjoy

hi Frescalus,

Last year i needed to simulate the exact thing you are doing. Popping a bubble in slow motion. Its not the best but it was the most i could do within the given time limit.

I used a wobble deformer for the bubble animation. For the shading, I used a rainbow turbulence and animated its offset. for the simulation i animated a ramp texture for its opacity to completely remove the bubble. Using the same ramp texture i mapped out particles along those surfaces so that they would emit in the areas the bubble was being removed in (thus creating the illusion that the part of the bubble being removed has turned to particles). From there i played with the amount of particles and fields to drive them in a manner similar to what happens in real life simulations.

here is what i have achieved: http://www.nicholasking.net/projects/bubblepop.mov

here’s the latest and greatest…

I’m having issues with the texturing I started seeing som wierd things…
the burst part is getting better but I still can’t seem to nail it…
I’ve had some people say it looks like dust rather than water drops which I could see that
I have a few volume axis fields on this to try and push the particles in the proper direction but somewhere I’m failing

I may post up the scene and see what people think

Here’s the latest now…

http://www.delta3d.com/viseff/bubble_new.mov

getting closer, but I just can’t seem to control the nparticles right…

can anyone offer any assistance or tips?

I’m using a mixture of a uniform field and newton field and colliding with an invisible ball to try and keep the roundness some… but I’m missing something
