Hi I am currently trying to teach myself modeling and animation and this is one of the first animations i have made. The character rig i didnt make, but I modelled the room based on my student accommodation and animated the character. Please let me know what you think, I always appreciate advice for future projects.
Pool table Animation
Animation wise, I suggest you focus on the basics. Your animation lacks arcs, anticipation and your character is not balanced.
Take standing from a sitting position for example. There are many variations to that simple movement, so film reference of your self and break it down and extract the main poses from there.
So assuming you got reference already, take note of the following details in your reference:
1: You most likely would anticipate by first rocking back your body then going forward.
2:Note your head and hips travel in an arc, and your spine bends forward. You bend forward to shift your body weight from your butt over to your feet to stand up.
3: does your hand do anything? Are you pushing off the arm rest or placing it on your knee as a leverage?
If you decide that animation is what you intend to specialize in, then I suggest you start with simple ball bounces and pendulums and work your way up.
I think you should start with basics, then you can try with more complex animation. You first need to walk before running.
regards,
Christian.
This made me laugh! I like it!!
:buttrock: :applause:
Just tweaking of the animations, and it’ll be great! I didn’t pay attention to the animation, just the story.
Good luck at tweaking it!
yeah, the story is pretty fun
but animation is definitly missing some stuff
like anticipation, action, overshoots, and recoveries
things like that
look up 12 animation principles
or any of the Animation Survival Kit stuff, that stuff is pretty good
Thankyou for all of your comments and advice guys, its really helpful. I know i’ve got a lot to learn and my animation is all very rigid at the moment. I think I rush into it and try to do too big steps at once rather than perfecting each little movement before proceeding. I think I need to make use of the graph editor aswell as it is something I haven’t yet tried. I will definitely take note of your comments for the next animation I make.
