Friend I am a Maya user and I want to know that can we go through same process to model human characters in Lightwave as we do in maya . I create a basic mesh in maya then I smooth it . CAn we do same in lightwave . Because I have searched a lot but I could not find any tutorial which describe the process I mentioned I do in maya . I found patch models , Cartoon models could not found real models as I have seen ,modeled in maya . Is that kind of modeling possible in maya , if yes please show me some modeling tutorials examples .

you can find a tutorial for head modeling ( polygon modeling )

http://www.little-tenderness.com/chimera.cgi?head=Head_Menu.html&tail=./04_Making/04_Making01.html

it’s in japanese but just clic "NEXT at the botom of page. and follow the image.

sub-d modelling is essentially polygon modeling, it’s just that the subdivision is done at render time rather than being done at the modeling stage. Usually Sub-d modeling is preferable for organic modeling because you can get smoother surfaces with less polygons. If you’d rather work with dense meshes it’s just a case of subdividing the mesh (CTRL+D I think) or using sub-d surfaces and freezing the mesh.
