pole vector 4 joint chain?

#1

Hi,

I'm having issues with creating a pole vector constraint on 4 joint chain without my joints rotating a slight amount. It's the leg of a dog, so there's an extra joint.

I’ve been using the 2 point one aim constraint workaround on my 3 joint chains and that keeps the joints from rotating, as described here http://www.toadstorm.com/blog/?p=129

I’ve tried the same method with the extra joint, creating the point constraints on the top and last child joints, then doing 2 aim constraints on the last two middle joints. But this approach isn’t working …

all my joints are at rot 0,0,0 and all have same orientation. I don’t have any orientation axis running down the joints… not sure if that’s causing the problem.

I also tried creating the ik on only three of the chain, then moving my effector’s pivot. Still no go.

any advice?
