Pointcache mesh from 3DS max to Maya

#1

Hi,

Well as it says on the title, I was wondering is it possible to Pointcache a mesh in 3DS max and then export the mesh to maya and have the pointcache working in maya???

REason mainly is as I have a rigged character made in Max but now we need to transfer it to maya to do all the rendering, and trying to export the rig and animation will be a real pain.

So is there some script around or just a certain workflow to follow to get this done?

I tried just a few test so far and most of the mesh work but some vertices stay behind, and I havent figured out what the problem is.

If you have suggestion or tuts I should look at… any ideas are good.

Regards,

I did it from maya to 3ds, so yes, it should be possible, but I can’t explain you how as I’m not a max user. However, you can also export your mesh and its cache as an fbx and import it into maya. I did it from maya to max and it worked well, it even converts the axis.

Thanks for that!!
It works now, I wasn’t using fbx, but now by using it, seems to work fine on small scale will see if it works on large scale.

Cheers
