Hello everyone, I would greatly appreciate your help in figuring out my problem. Let me tell you what I have (which works perfectly) and then I will tell you how I am stuck as to changing it (the part I can’t figure out). What I have is a double composite in Combustion (this is a material for a hand model in max). I have a .psd image of a hand as a background that remains still. On top of this image I have moving footage (a heart graph like you see in the hospital) that was cropped down to fit a center area of the hand, I multiplied this layer a couple of times because I needed four of the same. Above this I have a composite of four animated hearts that swells and fades in at the peak of each one of the graphs points, this is all fine and perfect. I have no problems here. But - here is where I really need your help. I’ve been asked to change how fast the graphs move in the footage, but not the whole footage, just where the heart graph peaks go up and down and still keep the rest of the footage the same…how do I do this? Also this would mean that the way I have the hearts animated for the peaks, would be changed, is there a way to have the hearts speed change with the new speed of the footage (if indeed that is possible). I’ve looked into parenting layers, but since the hearts are in their own composite the graphs down show up in the drop down menu. I’ve looked into null, but I guess I just don’t know how to do that either? Can anyone help me with this? Thank you for your time… Kindest regards, Gina
Plz help Combustion - I can't figure out how to edit this...
wow, hope i got you here…if the heart thingy is a videoclip, you could chop the part you want to speed up or slowdown…i use premiere, and i use the cut tool, to cut a part of a videoclip, where i can tell the program to speed up that specific part, or, slow down the very same part…it should work the same in combustion…this is of course - if i understand your problem correctly
Cheers!!! / Tobey
okay…
so you want to speed up a single piece of footage:
if I remember correctly (I don’t have combustion right here now…)
select the footage node -> footage controls -> output -> speed

There’s a near graph editor in Combustion for the timeline. You can perfectly edit every single frame for its speed. Just check the functions and there’s one that sys Timewarp or something similiar. If you stilll can’t find it I’ll look it up for you, but i’m kinda busy atm…
