Plugins & Open Reality SDK

#1

I’m not a scripter by any means, and I’ve hit a brick wall on this one…

I’ve installed a plugin called Gusport and it’s requiring me to use Open Reality SDK to run its interface. The directions to run this plugin are as follows:
look for Open Reality > Tools > Gusport menu

However, I can’t find Open Reality anywhere in MotionBuilder…no button in any of the menus to open up its ‘Tools’. I’ve tried the MBR help but it’s prooved useless so far. Does anyone know how to access Open Reality?

If it is a tool and it has loaded properly, then the Open Reality pulldown menu should automatically be there. If it isn’t, then the plugin did not load properly.

Make sure it has been compiled for the correct version of Motionbuilder (7.5, extension 1, or extension 2).

Yup, that was the issue. I was running 7.5 ext 2 while the plugin is for 7.5. Thanks a bunch, Stev!

So I’m using the correct version of MB to use Gusport, and I’ve gone as far as characterizing the .vsk skeleton as a Biped in MB, but when I import the .v file its frame range comes into place but there’s no animation on the new ‘character’.

Am I missing a step? Where did the animation disappear to?

Make sure you exported the v-file including local bodies. Hope it works.

Also, you don’t need to characterize the vsk before importing the animation. Don’t know if that could be the reason for your problem…

#6

Sorry, you do need to characterize the vsk if you want to use it for retargeting the animation. My bad…

Hi SebO,

I’m pretty sure I’m exporting local bodies correctly. When I have the export edit options up, i have…
Include Markers: No
Include Local Bodies: Yes
Include Global Bodies: No

I think that’s how it’s supposed to be setup…if not please let me know. Thanks for your help!

Edit: I just tried something different where I keep Vicon open while running MB and the plugin. Whenever I try to bring in the .V file it stops loading at 52% with the message “DOMLite_MB Import - RightHand”. That message had always been there before but it had said 100% beforehand. Now i see that the animation is always stuck at the 52% loading process. Any suggestions?

Doesn’t look good… Can’t really help you, I haven’t had any problem a all using Gusport. Otherwise you can export the markers as C3D and use the Actor in MB, wich I think is working just fine. Cheers
