please help!! maya fluid is not rendering inside a part-volume polycube

#1

please i’m stuck here if anyone can help me out
here’s the problem–

i’m actually creating an egyptian scene with some temple ruins and a nuclear blast, i created the blast with maya fluid and i wanted to show the light rays (GOD RAYS) in mental ray coming across ruins and temple (did it with sun and sky) so i did this by the part-volume and transmat technique(PLACING THE WHOLE SCENE INSIDE A POLY CUBE AND CONNECTING PART VOLUME AND TRANSMAT TO ITS SG NODE)
so i’m getting everything in render accept the fluid(nuclear blast)
i’ve done many tries but still m not able to get the fluid render.
NOTE–when i hide the poly cube then the fluid is visible in render–

You need to enable visible in refractions for the fluid shape.

thanks for replying sir, but still i am not able to get the fluid in render, i think it has something to do directly with that transmat and part volume cube
because when i hide that cube from the scene then i am able to see the fluid in render

Ok… I’ll have to try that combination when I get a chance to see what is happening. Please enter a bug on it if you have a moment.

Something that can work OK for god rays is a non-self shadowing fluid node with constant but very low opacity( simulating dust in the air ) but a bright color( to pick up the light ). (turn off all the grids and set the solver to none) It will pick up all shadowing of your lights. If the light intensity is not very high then you might also need to make the color very bright (you can type in values > 1 in to the color ramp ). The render time is not too bad as long as self shadowing is off. As well one should lower the shading quality on the fluid node as low as possible until it get too noisy.
