Pickwalk? hierachary hopping?

#1

Is there anything like pickwalking in xsi? Pickwalking in maya is pushing up or down on the arrow keys and climbing up and down the hierarchy. Is there a another name for this in xsi?

alt+up/down/home/end
or on the right panel three little arrows

for full list of shortcuts see helpfile//modyfing selection

It doesn’t have a fancy name in XSI, but it’s there
Look up hierarchy selection and selection methods and you’ll find it.
As suggested already, alt + arrows gets you hierarchical selections (left and right weren’t mentioned, but they work for items at the same level in the hierarchy, and you can use the standard modifiers to extend the selection or not IE: shift+alt+down will add the first child node to your current selection).

Thanks again, Piot. Jaco.

To navigate the hierarchy, there also these tiny, hard-to-hit arrow buttons on the Selection Panel, right above the “Scene” button.

Ho, and their tool tips tell you about alt+arrow
