Photoshop CS4 - import obj object for texturing

#1

Hey,

anyone has experience texturing 3d objects into photoshop CS4? I’m wondering if I am the only one having slow frame rate with a 10 000 polys model. I got a quad core Q6700@2.66 with a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT.

Thanks

I just tested a 100000 poly .obj from Blender in Photoshop CS4 64bit - and while the OpenGL update isn’t the best in the world, it is reasonable. About 10 fps in solid mode on my Nvidia 280GTX, i7@3.7GHZ and 12GB ram.

You have set the scene preset setting to something other than raytrace, haven’t you? Otherwise it will be SLOW. And set the anti-aliasing to ‘draft’ - any other will slow down the display. Try setting the render setting to ‘flat’ - this speeds up the refresh as well.

And are you certain you have hardware OpenGL activated in your performance settings?

Do keep in mind that Photoshop isn’t the fastest 3d perform artist in the world - quite laggy, actually. If you are looking for a better 3d painting solution, you might want to try 3DCoat, Maxon Bodypaint or BlackSmith3D.
