Photographing textures?

#1

Hey guys, I’m trying to take some photos of my AR drone to use as a texture for the 3d model of it. I’m stuck at the shell (orange and yellow part below)

What’s the best way to approach this? Is there any software that will take 3 photos of it (left right & top) and merge them together as a flat texture?

Thanks

It looks quite simple (texture) . You should try to do parts of the texture in Illustrator or Inkscape and then place them on UV map in Photoshop or Gimp. With object like this you’ll never get ‘flat’ photo and it looks bit shiny as well.

Thanks, I’ll give that a try.

If you have Mari and a nice UV set, you can clean up your photos in photoshop and then project them onto the model. 3 or 4 texture should do the job.

Or you could do that, and then use that as a template to then recreate the pattern in illustrator. But by projecting it first, you get a good guideline of where your illustrator lines should go. It’s just the design is so graphic, I think it would be easier doing the final pattern in something like illustrator.
