Personal Arch Vis Study- Childrens party

#1

Hi Everyone.
I have had an idea in my head to do a Visualisation of a childrens birthday party in grand room/Scandinavian styling and have finally got around to making a start. Im trying to get this as realistic as i can and also model everything from scratch including the soft furnishing which I must admit I find the hardest to do, this will be good practice though. Its going to be a little test to see how far i have come in the last year and to not have any client restrictions on the final outcome. All crits and comment are more then welcome  I did a quick sketch to get me started but will just wing it from that. My first job has been modelling the windows and getting the architrave detail surrounding it.

Today was radiator and floor day. I sent one of the water pipes up the wall as I thought it would add a bit more interest and detail. I was torn between a chevron and staggered floor but decided to go for the latter and use some extra wide boards.

I managed to squeeze in a few hours this weekend and make the ceiling medallion, it took a little while to get my head around how to model this one.

A small update modelling the kitchen units with some of the built in appliances.

As I am ill and stuck inside I thought I might as well get on with some furniture modelling this weekend. I might go back and add more creases into the leather sofa but I will wait until its textured to see if it needs it.
The barstool are Kuskoa by Jean-lois iratzoki and the sofa is by Staple an co.

Clean looking modeling! I love how the scene is building up nicely. The only small critique i would give is on the medallion. It looks fantastic and detailed but it seems to lack continuity in the pattern.

Really nice work here, its coming along real nice! How did you go about modeling the folds on the pillows? They look great, the seat cushions wrinkles could maybe be improved a bit though. Looking forward to your next updates

Sorry for the late reply, thanks for the comments  Its always good to get some feedback.

Hi Elgstrom.
All the cushions were made using the cloth modifier (3DSMax) on a box and playing around with the pressure to keep it inflated then droping it on a plane. I was hoping to get away with a displacement map on the sofa but after doing some test renders I think I may remodel the back cushions.

Hi JonGon, Yea I agree its not uniformed enough but I thought it might only been seen in some reflections so I decided to put it off. I have set up a few cameras but I might go back to it if it becomes noticeable when I start rendering.

I have started to do a bit of texture work, as mention above i’m not happy with the leather back cushions so may remodel them and i think there some general tweaking to do on the texture. The furry cushion is also going to change as it looks pretty bad, and eventually the rest will be different colours.

Another small update, I started working up the lighting and got a rough camera position set up. I still need to decide on another chair to model then fill up the room with accessories.
