Pendulum

#1

Hi there,

I have to “rig” a pendulum - a rope with a iron sphere (like a wrecking ball).
First thought: nHair.
But how can I attach / constrain a sphere (Rigid Body?) to the end of the nHair so that this sphere swings?

Any help would be nice.
thx,

might not be the simplest way, but what i would do:

  • create nHair from that rope.

  • create a single face plane at the bottom of the rope, and make it an nCloth.

  • constraint the bottom point of the rope to the nCloth plane (component to componet constraint).

  • do nucleus simulation.

  • attach a follicle to that plane face.

  • align your sphere pivot to the follicle.
*parent constraint your sphere to the follicle.

hope that helps.

Hi Jefri,

thank you - that is a way to do it.
I thought there could be an easier solution…

Again thank you,

Nothing good is easy  But that actually IS an easy workaround.

Or you could skip the plane, follicle, etc and use a sphere, set to rigid in ncloth, constrained to the hair.

HowardM: Yes it is an easy workaround. What I meant: This is more or less a trivial setup, but you have to do a lot of clicks and “tricks” to get this…

And surprise: I did exactly what you suggested.

Also thank you for your time
Cheers,
