PBRT Rendering Irregularity

Hey guys!

I’m working on a project using pbrt (pbrt.org) and have been getting artifacts with the exphotonmap function. I should be using version 2. I’ve already posted this question on their forums but we haven’t figured it out yet. Anyone seen this before or have an intuition as to what may be causing it?

White blotches are appearing through the model. I’ve used both the arcsphere and the bunny, with similar results. Rendering settings are similar to the below. I realize not all of the arguments are being used. The third picture is what I get without any finalgather.
