Path from Selection

#1

Hi everyone!

I need to create a path from a selection into photoshop.

All works correctly, but the path created is not perfect, take a look to the picture.

I can’t increase the image resolution, I’d like to know if there is some path parameter thanks to which I can better fit the path to the selection.
To make the selection I’ve used the “Color Range Selection” tool, the image background is all white.

Maybe I can have a better result into Illustrator? If yes, how?

thank you for any advice.

Nope.

Illustrator will not fair better. I doubt any program will. What you are dealing with is a program that is interpreting the selection or image and trying to put exact information into the mask or path that it creates. Because computers use calculations and need to be exact they cannot match the human capability to “guess” where things are spatially. That being said - adjust your settings to be less than a pixel for the output and that should help.

The shape doesn’t look that complex though, why not just make it? I think you could do it in less than six vertices.

you’re right,
but I’ve to do it for a lot of images

I’m looking for an automatic way.

I found the “Live Trace” illustrator tool quite useful, it has most parameter to set and I get a better restul, not perfect but better.

Thank you very much.

use the direct selection tool once you make the path to make it fit more closely?

or have you tried refine edge?
