looks pretty cool, nice atmosphere and composition, my only comment ( what I would do ) is get rid of too much direct sun on the left rocky mountain, maybe just a hint of light and half mountain in shadow would look better and no so flat

Hello Manuel,

This is nice. I hope you can find the time to finish it.
One thing that sticks out to me right now are the hard edges.
Especially that large cliff on screen left.

Hey guys, yes I actually finished it a while ago. Thanks for asking. I wasn’t really satisfied with the plants. I wanted them to be 3D elements for the camera push. You can see the animated shot after the battle ship painting in the video or open the still in a new tab for a 2k version. Let me know what you think. Perhaps you would’ve used a different approach to avoid 3D trees?

If you’re interested in animated trees and plants, take a look at Speedtree or XFrog. The first thing that sticks out to me in your shot is that the ground vegetation is red and the trees are green. That creates a huge disconnect within your environment.
You have a great illustration sense that especially shows in the colour theory and creative detailing, such as the red banners. I watched and enjoyed your video but currently it still needs some refining to get it to a photo-real look. One thing that is quite noticeable right now is that your screen-left cliff lacks integration, especially along the edge. Hiding it behind a tree helps somewhat to distract from it but does not solve the issue. The look you have established with the strong blown out highlights in the mid-ground and the very dominant haze from screen-right are so stylized that they’re unfortunately working against you.
I understand it takes some motivation to re-tackle an older piece but this image is showing lots of potential and I hope you can find the time to address some notes on it.

Thanks for you detailed feedback. Yeah it ain’t easy to retouch an older piece but there is definitely room for improvement. I put your notes down for a rainy day. I’m sure I’ll do it eventually and post an Update here.
