Particular with tracking data

#1

Hi there,

Im using Trapcode Particular for some particles which follow behind a 3D rocket. I’ve rendered out a tracker, and tracked it, but when i try to select the layer to apply it to it wont allow me to select the Position XY within the plugin.

So then i applied the XY coordinates to a Null layer, and am now in a position where i could apply that data to the Position XY of the plugin layer if only i knew how to code an expression!

If i could apply something like this…

position x = Get the x position of the Null layer
position y = Get the y position of the Null layer

Does anyone know how to do this? its v basic code i think.

Many thanks in advance…

Morgn.

Would it be possible in your case to have the emitter be a light and then bind the lights position to the tracked data? That would solve having to use expressions on the position.

Just alt-click “Position XY” inside the particular effect and pick-whip to the Position value in the null. That should do it for you.
