Particle ID or instance ID pass in Maya for compositing?

Hey, I need to create a particle ID pass, or instancer ID pass, so each particle and object is rendered as a unique color.

I want this so particles/instances can be painted separately in the composite, via a plugin I’m working on. (Stickey Paint via aescripts.com).

For reference, here’s a video of the plugin. Since the creation of this video, we’ve decided against coloring the particles via their position because particles occasionally overlap, and will not have a unique color. A particle ID would be much better solution.
