Is it possible to paint while the color picker is still visible? Well, it doesn’t seems possible to me but I’m asking anyway…who knows it does…but it SHOULD do…
Thanks…

But you can screenshot your monitor(with opened color box) and then crop that image just to see box. Then place it on your image as new layer.
Hope that helps
if you re using CS4 you can use a Flash Panel see this link http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2008/12/photoshop_gets_1.html
I often need to pick colors, different colors to bring lots of variations in my paintings, then I need to keep opening the ColorPicker, picking a color, closing it, and so on…it would be a lot better if I could let it opened everytime, then I just pick the color and done…wont it be useful for you? I dont know why it wouldnt…and, if the color picker wasn’t modal, it would not make a difference for the ones who like it as modal. =X
yep, this setup is enough for me

but is you REALLY wanna make it work your way, maybe you should checkout AutoHotKey
that color window should be greater…I dont understand why they dont give us this simple flexibility, oh well…okay guys, thanks =)
as i wrote already, try AutoHotKey
http://www.autohotkey.com/
here’s a script which gives you instant access to color picker by pressing the windows key
