Painting over the selected color

#1

Hi, I have two questions:

  1. How can I paint over the same spot with the same selected color, but with more blackness each time? (Ex: first time i paint in blue/red/green and second stroke it is just darker in color. And keeps darken the spot.)

  2. In the color mixer, where you paint and mix. Is there any way to get the color “live” from
the board and into the canvas without the need of changing to the color picker? Else
    its useless.

Thanks.

You change the brush’s Method to Buildup in Window->Brush Controls->Show General.

I have been testing every option I think, but I don’t know what it is called or if it really is an option?

The buildup method isn’t one of the normal brush options you see on the screen when you are using the brush. You need to go into the Brush Creator and change the brush. I think the path in the message above might be for Painter 11. In Painter X, you would get there by going to Window>Show Brush Creator.

Actually Im using painter 11, and have now again searched the brush creator but I can’t get any further.

jden,

You’ll need to make an adjustment to the brush variant you’re using.

This can be done in either of the following:

[ul]
[li]Brush Creator - Ctrl+B (Windows) or Command+B (Mac) or[/li][li]Brush Controls palettes that open in the normal Painter interface - Window > Brush Controls > Show General.[/li][/ul]

Then go to the General section (Brush Creator) or the General palette (Brush Controls) and change the Method name to Buildup.

I checked again, it looks like it doesn’t work with artists oils. The buildup method with others was a bit too fast building it up, but I guess it can be changed after a bit of search. But however, is there any options for buildup with the artist oils?
