Painter X Doesn't support .PNG?

#1

This may be old news to some, but I’ve discovered just today that Painter X doesn’t open or save .PNG’s which is a massive problem, because I’m masking reference images for a new painting I’m working on, and the transparency feature a .PNG file extension offers is crucial, well maybe not crucial, but it’d be easier…

Is there a different file extension I can save for to keep my transparency or am I stuck saving as a JPEG without transparency?

My apologies for such a nooby question  All help is appreciated and is thanked in advance

Hi,

Maybe this will help:

In Corel Painter, there are two file formats we can use when savng files, both of which allow us to Save Alpha (Alpha Channel or saved selection) by making sure the Save Alpha box at the bottom of the Save Image As dialog box is checked before clicking the Save button:

TIFF
PSD

Then you can open the file in Photoshop or another program that supports TIFF or PSD and Alpha Channels, as well as PNG format, and save the file in PNG format.

Good luck!
