Painter IX tips resources / suggestions

#1

Hello, I’m just starting out with digital painting and I’m pretty much hooked already (Painter IX demo got me!). I have two questions, one broad one specific.

Anybody here a Painter fan and have some resources they use in particular that were effective in getting them started, and how about some online resources like tutorials or brush downloads? I’ve gone to the sticky here about tutorial resources but didn’t find precisely what I was looking for.

Secondly, I’m looking for strategies on painting GRASS. I have this down pretty well in real-life oils, but I’m having difficulty finding the right digital brush to do the trick. If anybody here has some suggestions (Painter or just digital in general) about how to paint grass and related feathery / whispy textures, I’d really appreciate it! Thanks.

Thanks Lady Medusa! Wow some great stuff at that website. Checked out your website while I was at it and liked the smoothness / good blending technique of your surfaces. Is that with Photoshop?

There are many digital art forums, and some of them have dedicated sub-forums on Painter. In CGTALK, you can find it under 2D Application Specific.

I just recently customized painter to my likings (hotkey vise) so I haven’t gotten around whit that yet, but it is certanly possible to do that in painter aswell if you find the right brush and technique
