Painter 11 Issues - even after the install of the Patch

#1

Hi, I’m working in Painter X from two years and even if I feel very comfortable with it I just wanted to try Painter 11 and so I decided to download the trial version plus the first patch (which should solve the known issues for this version) from the Corel website.

I used it for a working session of 4 hours and I had two issues:

1] When I move the image I’m working on from a part to another of the workspace the transition of the movement is not smooth.

2] When I change the zoom of the image I’m working on using the slider in the left low corner of the image’s window and I set it to a value that is not 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% the image is displayed pixelated and not smooth so it’s really impossible to work the details with precision.

None of these issues happens in Painter X and I’m using the same workstation for both versions of the programs so it’s not a pc problem. Do anyone have the same issues or know how to solve them?

Thank you.
Pierluigi

Have you disabled both the ‘Enhanced Brush Ghost’ and ‘Draw zoomed-out views using area-averaging’ in Edit/Preferences/General? Disabling both should speed up performance.

‘Draw zoomed-out views using area-averaging’ is supposed to make the zoom views smoother. But I’ve had experience where it actually makes it look worse for some reason. And it’s this option that makes moving the image around the screen slow too.

Other than that, just in case your workspace has developed a glitch you could try resetting everything to default by holding down the shift key as the program starts up. If you’ve made any custom settings make sure you save your workspace/palettes/brushes first or they will be deleted.

That’s was the problem, thank you very much!!!

PierluigiAbbondanza: I’m borrowing your thread since it has a title that sort of fits my purpose. Hope it’s ok.
First: I have a fresh install of Painter 11 and it’s been upgraded. I have also installed a Intous4M.
But I can’t get any preassure sensitivity in painter. Photoshop works great. size and opacity by preassure. I can’t figure this out. It’s the same with all the brushes.
Second issue: I have a dual screen setup. But why does painter change the layout of the workspace when I hit Ctrl+B to edit my brushes? Every time. The top toolbar get’s detached and any other docked palettes moves all over the place.

Thanks.

For the pressure issue I’d try a reset (hold shift on startup) or disable Wacom Virtual Hid Driver in the Device Manager.

The Ctrl+B is a bug, don’t use it is my advice, use the Brush Controls Palette instead.

Thanks Joeparis
I uninstalled/rebooted/reinstalled the wacom drivers freshly downloaded from their sire and I’m now painting with preassure. and I sure will stay away from the Ctrl+B. Pity I liked the editor.

You can still Use the editor … just not the CTRL+B to get there (go to the Window Menu and choose Brush Editor (very bottom)).
