Paint bump and colormaps

Hi i wonder how to swap between painting colormaps and bump maps? Lets say i start out with painting a bump map, then add a new texture to paint colormap. Everything works fine but then i want to go back to tweak my bumpmap, i highlite my bumpmap and make sure it only effect the normals, but when i start to paint with black and white it starts to effect the color and not the normals? So my question is, how can you switch between tweaking the maps or is it a bug in 2.58?

It is the image you have loaded in the UV/image editor that decides whether you work with bump or colour not which texture you have highlighted, but just changing the image will not work either.

You have to do this when you are in texture paint mode

  1. shift to Edit mode

  2. Select all

3.Go to the uv/image editor change to the bump map (or to the colour map)
by clicking the “browse image to be linked” icon …the one that looks like a picture
and that is located just to the right of the image folder at the bottom row and then click
the correct image file in the pop up display. ( I presume you have already saved the bumpmap and colourmap as image files)

  1. go back to edit mode and shift to texture paint mode

done!

and remember to save both the imagefiles as any changes done to them from when you first save them as bumpmap.png or whatever will not be saved even if you save the blend.file before exit.
