Comments & Suggestions please

100 views and nobody as anything to say about it? Tell me if it sucks at least!

I would really like comments on lighting and shadows and composition if somebody cares.

Thanks in advance,

hey Rex, welcome to this forums, well let’s talk about your work.
I think you have a good and simple visual composition , but your linear perspective is not good, and you can tell by just watching the car, I think you need more real reference before starting a scene like this one, because you need to understand more how materials react to the different lights, you know there are tungsten ( yellow light ) and fluorescent ( green light ) those lights are very used in house exteriors and can lit your elements in a very different way changing the mood totally, also you have a strong light source here, the moon also can cast some hard shadows and create some strong highlights in some materials,
overall I think it needs more contrast between light and shadow, some rim light on the foliage and trees, could make them look better and will give more depth

take a look at this references and you will understand better what I meant
in this one you can see the proper photo exposure to have everything clear and readable for our eye, you can see how bright can be , even though it is a night shot

for the car you need another photo with a perspective that works with the one you have and more reflections of the environment, also more birght details as chrome or gold details and headlights, also highlights all over
hope this helps

Hi Rex,
I think you’ve had a really good piece of feedback already and that gives you lots to work with. The first thing I would do is go back in and re-work your perspective, its really important that you get the fundamentals right before you start layering in the detail, other wise it is wasted. Its also really important to make sure the objects in the scene sit under the right light sources or sources together. Again if that isn’t happening the illusion is broken and we don’t feel they are part of the same environment. As jamesvfx suggested good reference is really important, I’m looking at the car and the reflection doesn’t seem right - it doesn’t fit with the environment, but I don’t know exactly how it should look, for that I would search for a pic on the net for a photo of a car taken in moonlight then I would be able to adjust my image accordingly.
I think you have the start of a good project here, but I would really go back to the core stuff first and then build on it, later in the project it will really reward you and you’ll have a really solid piece.
All the best
Tim
