Optimizing Irradiance Particles… is only using 25% - one core - of my processor.
But the tasks of “Pre-processing”, “Emitting Importons”, “Computing Final Irradiance Pass for Irradiance Particles” and of course, rendering, all use 100% - all four cores.
What’s up with that?
Softimage 2010 (trial).
On the other hand I have to say I really like the irradiance particles more than regular GI photons and/or/with Final Gather. Much faster, very nice looking, easier to set up.
So even if the optimizing pass is only using 25% of the available processing power, it’s still worth it.
But still though, I’d prefer 100%.
