Opening another instance of C4D R21

Hi.

I often have to bake fairly complex simulations which freezes c4d until the sim is complete. These sims can take several hours to complete.

With R20 I was able to open a 2nd instance of c4d so I could continue working on other projects.
I would create a shortcut of the application and then under properties I would add the following text to the target tab " -parallel"

For some reason this does not work in R21.

Anyone have any idea how I can resolve this?

Hey Kian,

There were issues with the “-parallel” instances causing corrupted preference files, so that option was removed in R21.

Instead, you can create additional installations of the software and launch an instance from each installation. This works fine because each installation has its own preference path.

So in your situation you could simply copy the installation or use the Full Installer to create installations “Cinema 4D R21 A” and “Cinema 4D R21 B” and launch an instance from each directory.
