take a look at:

A MUST HAVE is the OpenGL Programming Guide (Red Book)
http://rush3d.com/reference/opengl-redbook-1.1/

but also the OpenGL Reference Manual (Blue Book) is a standard here.
http://www.rush3d.com/reference/opengl-bluebook-1.0/

there must also be an online version of the OpenGL Superbible somewhere.

Hi there,

Don’t know what compiler you are using but if you check out my website http://www.naval-architecture.co.uk/articles/index.asp and scroll down there are two short articles aimed at getting started in programming and also one on setting up an OpenGL skeleton in Borland C++ Builder (principles are the same for other C++ development IDEs).

Also you might want to check out http://nehe.gamedev.net/ for some of the best OpenGL tutorials around. Created by a guy while he was learning and the sourceode has been ported to many environments and is very weel commented.

HTH and good luck!
