OpenGL and Video Support

How powerful of a Video Card do you have to have to be able to view in OpenGL in Modo?

I had an old Nvidia GeForce2 GTS 32MB Video Card and was able to run it, but it just died. I was able to get another one an ATI VisionTek XTasy 9250 128MB, and now I cant view in OpenGL.
The new card is not new technology, its about 2 years old card, but still I should be able to view in OpenGL, correct?

I have these drivers installed (http://www.visiontek.com/teksupport/drivers/6.11_XP_pre_driver.html)

And this is the card itself:

Now this card has got to be able to run OpenGL Viewing in Modo? Or am I wrong?

Thank you very much for your help.

Does the application launch? What do you mean opengl doesnt work? Is it the viewports are not visible but the modo tools are?

Need more info

If so, have you tried disabling VBO under System | Preferences | Opengl

Cheers.

Sounds like your computer is too weak to handle the 128mb card.

If it(the computer) came with the 32mb i doubt it would handle anything like 4x more powerful.
Whats your computer spec?

Sorry for the delay, long busy weekend.
What I mean is the ViewPort, U know, where you choose to view in:
WireFrame
Solid
Vertex Map
Shaded
Texture
Advanced OpenGL

I cant view anymore Advanced OpenGL, its grayed out.
The system can handle the new video card. Its an ATI 9250 PCI with 128 MB. The previous card that just dropped on me was an Nvidia Geforce2 GTS 32MB, which is like 3 years older then the new ATI I got.
I can launch Modo and work with no problem, just cant view Advanced OpenGL, which is the standard view I leave it on usually when viewing the model with textures on and shaded…

The new card should be able to do even more then the old one, but for some reason I cant view in Advanced OpenGL anymore. I tried ATI’s drivers from Ver 66.X to 77.X and none will work with Advanced OpenGL ViewMode.

Anyone may know why? Is there a special extra I have to setup to view it in Advanced OpenGL?

Again thank you for your help…

Ahhh now I understand.

Modo has basically disabled the advanced opengl as the card - or maybe its driver, does not support those features.

I would maybe try contacting luxology support to see if the card is compatable or if theres anything to be done about it.

Hmm, thank you, its just weird that an OLDER VIDEO card would work with OpenGL but not a newer one.

The old Nvidia geforce2 which is very old, VS the new one I just got, should it not be better in Modo? Or Modo does not support as many ATI Type Video Cards as Nvidia?
Just curious, as usually the newer cards would have more options and support more apps then the older ones. Just curious and asking, nothing more.

Thank you for the help, guess I have to go for a different video card then.

Thank you…

Advanced OpenGL mode requires pixel shaders, which the 9250 doesn’t support.
