OpenFrag Core Suggestions

#1

What is OpenFrag?
OpenFrag is meant to serve as a platform (yes, you call it an game-engine if you want). OpenFrag is meant to be as dynamical as possible to support all kinds of themes. A theme can be seen as a game, using scripting you can take advantage of the full power OpenFrag has.

OpenFRAG uses Yake and Ogre3D.

What’s the purpose of this topic?
OpenFrag exists for about 3 years now, in all that time we created a few techdemo’s and some tools. However, all this was created just from our heads, since OpenFrag began to grow it became too complex to maintain the whole core without having anything on paper. You’ll probably understand that it was getting a mess, code became unusable, every techdemo was a fresh start.

Now we want to change that! We want as many suggestions as possible; what would everyone like to see supported? We’ll gather all suggestions, and when we feel we’ve a complete overview of what’s needed the suggestions will be examined. The final purpose is to create a decent and complete UML design which will be used to create the core. This will give us a clear overview and hooks us up a much higher rate of efficiency.

What would you like to be supported?
Everything, just everything that pops up in your mind, from gameplay and input ideas to coding styles. Put it here. Do you know some good libraries for example for AI, please post it in this topic!

All suggestions from this topic will be posted on this blog!

You need a useraccount to post comments, but not for reading suggestions or comments. For adding suggestions you can use your OpenFrag forum account (since you have to post them in that topic). Also, your first comment will not be automatically added to the site. This is to prevent spam. Once one of your comments has been accepted, all following comments by you will automatically be accepted.

Not all suggestions from the previous topic have been added yet, but please bear with us while we go through them all.

Please keep the topic clean, there’s room for comments and discussion on the blog. If we spread that discussion over the forum and the new site, we’re bound to forget a few opinions.

The previous suggestions topic can be found here.
