Becca - it was water, not sky from the beginning… And even when I took away the waterlilys, I still saw it as water. So I never “saw” the clouds
I´ll put some more action into it

slaps forehead ~ doh!
Now that you say that, I see it, and read it totally differently!
You know, this painting came to mind when you said it was water:
The Lady of Shallot by Alfred, Lord Tennyson - 1809-1892:

It’s a poor (web) reproduction, but there are probably better versions out there, perhaps off of the ARC site.
Perhaps what might suggest water would be some nice purple/blue/green shadows across the water’s left edge or some plants strewn here and there…at any rate, just a suggestion, and hopefully the image is inspiring! I just love this artist…
Cheers,
~Rebeccak
Aye!
puts on his green stockings
I Love Tennyson!
EDIT: you must have slept some three hours tonight, right? Maybe all of us should watch that you get enough sleep? Like an internet nanny, kind of?

LOL!
My friends accuse me of uploading myself to the internet…I think there may be one foot that remains…
Luckily, no work for me today, as it is a holiday here, so I can have a nice day at home without being in Helen Keller mode.

My fingers are itching now to start the “masterpiece” reproduction… I still vote for the one with hell and virgil… We can take them all later

Hehe, only one more week to go Ms. D
~ I can’t wait either, I love that image! Gory, but amazing! ![]()
Hi, Rebecca! It’s difficult to comment on the various stages of your work individually, but I’m enjoying it’s progression! I’m amazed at the way you seem to give the reference image so much more definition and drama, - give it so much more vitality!
I’m realizing that my age and wrinkles, though, do not have as much appeal, esthetically, as our beautiful Hong Ly! lol! Think I’ll give up as a model and just stick to drawing and painting! I’m fascinated with the way your work is developing, though, Rebecca, and looking foreward to it’s completion.
Doesn’t look as if I’m going to be able to start my drawing effort at Hong Ly today, much to my chargrin! So much to get through! I promise to get onto it soon!
Ronnie.
Hi…RON…
I need the beauty of youth, middle age, and old age,… to do the paintings I have in
my mind…makes for nice contrast…YOU KNOW…:bounce:
Some of the most beautiful paintings in the history of art, have been created useing that
very contrast that I just spoke of…

Ron, thanks! One point to clarify, Hong Ly is the person (male) who takes the photos, not the model.
I really hope that you don’t give up as a model. For myself personally, I enjoy drawing men more than women, as there is much more muscle definition typically, depending on the model. And you have a Michelangelo~esque look which I think is difficult to find, plus an expressiveness as a model that is rare. I think you have real gifts as a model, and it would be a shame if you were to give those up.
I hope you can participate here when you can, but don’t feel pressured to do so. We appreciate your contribution already, and anything else is just extra.
Cheers,
~Rebeccak
Y’all’s work is so refined using computers. I downloaded a trial version and hope to play with it this week. In the mean time, here is what I did this weekend:
I am kinda embarrassed because of everyone else’s work.
Rebecca : Amazing , but im still so looking forward to see it finished
Sara : Amazing work, you know that, but one little crit if i may say so
: The style which has been used on the background and the character are different from each other, so thats something you can work on next time…maybe
Nonetheless, AMAZING!
All the others : your works are all so good! Highskilled particapaters!!
I guess i finished this one. Maybe i’ll try a background, but i’m affraid i’ll ruin it.
I tried to put a skin-texture on it, hope it worked out a bit!

Hi…Rebecca…
Really captured a lot of emotion here…very strong piece…![]()
You should be able to take it a lot further with painter I think…nice to see
you experimenting …just stay away from those filters…if you can…LOL.!!

aggie93,
Do not be embarrassed ~ we are all here to learn. I think you would quite like the following Anatomy Threads, where these folks are working traditionally in pencil, as well:
Anatomy Thread of Erich Schreiner
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=297560
Anatomy thread of Icey
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?p=2967040#post2967040
Definitely check these threads out, they contain beautiful traditional work. Also, I think it’s often better to stick to your guns and learn traditionally first. It may be hard with the pressure of the digital tools all around, but I think often you can go farther digitally with a stronger traditional foundation.
For next week’s Master Copy Workshop, I would encourage you to use pencil as well ~ it will be a challenge, but as a result, I think you will learn a lot! ![]()
zng-Y,
Thank you.
Amazing progress~! Really impressed with this. The one thing that bothers me just a wee bit is the shape of the eye somehow ~ it just seems a bit sharp somehow? Perhaps the forehead just a bit short? But other than that, I just love this piece. Great work! ![]()
Hope to see you participate and everyone participate in our Master Copy Workshop next week.
Glenn,
LMAO!
Now I’m going to get it…
Cheers,
~Rebeccak

Mecha,
Stunning work! :applause: And so not rendered when viewed up close!
I like how you’re doing that camera~obscura~like thing with the lights on the handle of the sword and elsewhere ~ that’s quite nice! Definitely looking forward to your participation in the next OFDW, I think it should be quite exciting! :bounce:
Cheers,
~Rebeccak
