A little late, a little OT, but: congratulations on your fabulous Spectacular Challenge piece, btw!

That’s what we’re here for! :scream:

Vidar3d,
thanks for the compliments! And for making fun of Lemog…that has made my day I think! (Just kidding, Lolo!) :scream: Great update!

Originally posted by Sabie: Of course…As I’ve already told in Gunie’s thread I’ve no artistic background or education…I’ve studied physics when I’ve finished school…boring jobs and family engagements finally forced me to look for a change and I began to study informatics and there I get in touch with 3d …and was so hooked that I stopped anything else and began to learn by myself…with books, online contents and so on. This was about 3 years ago… And here I am, trying to learn more whenever I find some time…

Wow, no artistic education…that’s amazing!!! Beautiful work, Sabie, imagine what you could do with even more practice…this is your ‘starting point’…we will definitely have to convert you! :scream:

Mecha,

Lovin’ it!

seth1,

Beautiful update!

makaron,

Join us sweetie! :bounce:(Or should I say, “Swedie”?) :scream:

Steph,

Thank you! I saw that about Caravaggio! Lines up Caravaggio Erm, btw, no reason…what’s your favorite painting by him? whistles

beelow,

Join in! :bounce:

Cheers,

THANKS…Rebecca…
Really liking this guys composition the more I study it…very simple, and effective…
A spiral, starting at the top right corner of painting…with devils wing tip, and going down
to finally end up in the swirl of the two big figures in the forground…just noticed yesterday
that the line formed from the front of Virgils robe, leads directly into faces of big figures,
or the center of the spiral…exit spiral by way way of hand of Dante pointing up to Virgils
face…small figures on right are just the outter edge of spiral or swirl, along with figure at
the feet of big figures…spiral even extends to outter edge of rocks, at bottom of painting.
Not sure, but I THINK the exit to or from painting is the wing tip behind Virgils head.
There is also an …X…formed by big figures …X…is for action…another smaller…X…
is formed by devils body and wings…also to creat action…Lines formed by …X’S…
creat the strong diagonals, adding to the action…ect. ect. ect. …
Nothing created by chance in ths MASTER WORK OF ART…
Just thought I would mention my thoughts on this composition…they may not be totaly
corect, but that’s the way i’m seeing it at the moment…didn’t get into the composition
of the lighting yet…LOL!!..That’s a whole nother story in itself…LOL!! :bounce:
By the way…Really like the way you’re handling these figures…DRAMATIC ONENESS…

Rett…THANKS… .:wavey:
You’re doing a GREAT JOB on this so far…be carefull on background…very few lines there,
mostly values, or lights and darks butting up against each other, or into each other.
Think of …DA VINCI’S METHOD…Stains on the wall kind of thing…

Well I can’t sit here typeing all morning, with my one finger , I have some more, or I should
say a lot more painting to do on this one LOL!!

Just want to say that everyone’s work on this painting looks … FANTASTIC…so far…

TAKE CARE

Here is an update to my WIP:

Everyone is frantically working on this. We should really think about letting the public see our work. I have invited a few of my friends to this link but I think we should send them out on tour around the world for everyone to see how good everyone is.

By the way, I started my Bouguereau’s Le Ravissement de Psyche painting for my wife. Here is the start on it:

See y’all later.

OK (*&^, why can’t I get the pictures to show up in this thread like y’alls? It just gives you links. I followed the directions.

Morning Beckie !

Well my favorite must be “The calling of Saint Matthew” yep … or “the Cardsharps” … Probably because I did advanced studies of those at school years ago… But unfortunately , they’re not really anatomy related … But I’m a huge fan of all his art , so if one day there’s an OFDW opening with him , maybe I could be tempted to show my awfull painting skills … Hey what am I saying… and Caravaggio is sleeping quietly in his grave

cheers everyone  ,

#208

When I was starting my rough sketch, I noticed that. Now that I have the detail in, it looks like he is just geting a hicky… bad one! :scream:

#212

aggie93 - I am from Dortmund, far western part of Germany, in the Ruhrgebiet, one of the largest congested areas in europe.

Ever been to Germany?

#213

Mr. Mu - No I haven’t, like to though. My mom’s family originated from the southwestern part of Germany. I do not know where Dortmund is. I went to visit friends in Oslo last summer. I had a blast.

Hi Rebecca and Everyone
Today’s update
Small figures I did yesterday were too small
So this morning I redid them - made bigger
Started adding a couple more in the human-puzzle-chain
This afternoon started big foreground figures and then played with color and light
to make sure background stays in back.
That’s it for today.
Take Care
Glenn

Really interesting approach…definitely cool to watch this develop.

Hmm…whistles innocently  ~ it would be awesome if you joined us, Scar~Go ~ you know, you can even do 3D for the OFDWs ~ Stahlberg did in the first one. You know you want to join us…:scream: :bounce:

seth1,

Great update! Really looking good there…don’t kill yourself over it, though ~ if your hand starts to hurt, give it a rest! Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is something you definitely want to avoid at all costs. Bear in mind that this Workshop has 2~3 more weeks to go!

Cheers,

#217

wow that is such a cool ass painting
who is this guy?
What u guys think hurts more? A knee to the spine or teeth in the throat?

#218

Hey cool Glen. They almost look chrome.

#219

Slowly moving towards the foreground… Yay - soon! :bounce:

I wonder how long it took mr Bouguereau to paint the original. And at was size the original painting is. I find my size, 3500x2700 approx, is way to small for the details in the background. It´s enough for the main characters I think, but not for the ones in the back…

#220

Looking good Sara, I can’t wait to see the foreground figures. Here is another update from me.
