botched - this is turning out wonderful in digital.

One question: when you added the background, did you take care not to paint over the figure or did you create a mask to get wild within, or did you use some other technique to separate the bg from the figure?

mazalo - totally in love with the look of your strokes on that

enrique - just wow -stop- Sleeve values fine -stop- totally in awe -stop-

Worked some more on this wonderfully arrogant man

#484

Thanks Mu,

The background was done first, then I painted up the figure on seperate layers… somewhat “wild”… then went back and erased what went “outside the lines”.

#485

Getting there slowly but surely…

#486

Needed to correct that eye which I think I have done, please tell me if you think otherwise.

It is great to see all the new work and the new people who have joined! To all the new folks, welcome!

It will probably take me a bit to catch up on everything (just got back into town), but just wanted to say that everyone is doing a great job, and to remind folks that you still have til June 18th to finish work on your pieces.

Keep up the great work!

Cheers,

Some update on face, fullsize and closeup

#490

Hi Rebecca and Everyone:

Been awhile while since I updated. I finally had a chance to get back to this painting. Worked on faces of the main figures mostly. And the guy’s hat, which has a zillion colors in it!
That’s it for today

Great Job Everyone!

Take Care
Glenn

#491

Wow Glenn, amazing job, the color scheme is just wondefull, I only hope to see this finished soon.

#492

Here is my (little) second step. I am not in the habit of making 2-hours drawings, but I go on… There, I’m testing artrage, really nice software for oil-painting-style drawings.

#493

EDIT: ok, can see it now, dont worry

agou, I cant see your picture…

try to link again?

#494

I think this is finished…this is the longest I have ever worked on a digital piece…about 4.5hrs in total. Thanks for looking.

#495

Leaving the face and expression for now, and turning my interest to the clothes… I dread the tiger-skin:scream: Let´s see how long I can avoid it

#496

worked on the face and hood mainly.

None of the values is higher than a 50% grey at the moment…HEAR ME REBECCA!!!

damn, another vive minutes and I am off… Ecuador-Costa Rica wants my attention…

#497

Back in a few for ctritics and coments.

#498

Hey Sara, great wrok on the face, already looks pretty good, that pelt is the hard thing on the merchant piece, good luck on that, overall excellent work :thumbs up:

Mal, yours look pretty good too, the texture on all the paint looks awesome, good job.

Mu, that look really great, cant wait to see when you push up the values, can I know what brush are u using? it owns a very interesting texture. Ecuador will win that game, tomorrow plays Mexico!! :buttrock: I really love soccer :bounce:

#499

enrique, Mexiko played great at Confederations Cup last year and I hope they can qualify for the round of sixteen.

The brush is PainterIX.5’s charcoal brush (I think it’s soft charcoal, but I am not too sure ,atm) For accentuated lines I use another of the charcoal variants, namely the charcoal pen (direct translation from the german version which sometimes differs from english names)

The texture is created by the paper structure I chose in Painter and then you can specify how much the variant makes use of that paper structure by using a “structure”-slider. Absolutely ingenious system, imo. You can also specify the lightness and contrast of the paper for newly applied strokes.

In addition to that I also applied some surface texture (independant Painter dialog under “effects”) which applies a combination of paper structure and directional lighting to the surface.

And I did all of that before the thing is finished…:scream: I should get my priorities straight…

However, the WC in Germany is top priority at the moment for me, so that I will have to work on this for longer than the 18th to get it finished…

I where about to go to Germany for the firs game, but I couldn’t bacause my work , but every day I watch the games and I will be there in 3 days  , I think that Germany have all to get the cup, you are who played better from the strong teams, I think that we surely will be at final quarters, from there I dont know.

And thanks for the explanation.
