Finally time I got back to digital painting…

Over and hour in Painter 9, I left his pipe off for health reasons…

Paperclip, I’m definately sure it won’t be the last time…I think the OFDW is a great thread and can’t wait for the next one.
Oh and thanks Rebecca, once again.
By the way thought I’d post a close up:

#403

Thanks! Yes… I’ll be working in much more darks as I continue. So far I’m still on the first pass at the underdrawing (using only a 3h pencil so far). I plan on doing successive passes with progressively softer pencils to build up the dark areas.

#404

Thanks for the great tips, becca, I’ll implement them as soon as I can. I never really ‘noticed’ the color counterpoints you pointed out- I’ll think about it much more in my work from now on.

A big CONGRATULATIONS is in order for SaraD who got her work plugged today! Go, sara! You’re doing us all proud!

Clippy, no problem. You’re working hard, keep up the great work!

Hey, and it wasn’t even plugged by me! The best images from this thread (including SaraD’s) will still be SPOTLIGHTED at the conclusion of this Workshop.

I’ll be out most of today but it’s great to see everyone’s work! Mike, it’s great to see you here and I look forward to your progress!

Just so everyone knows, I will be out most of this week and into next week, starting tomorrow with limited to no internet access. Please continue to post your work and to offer comment and critique on others’ pieces as you guys have been doing beautifully! Thanks for everyone’s participation here, I will definitely be checking in if I can this week, and if not, after Friday.

Cheers,

Thanks for the congrats!
How did I get a plug? Is that a recommendation from someone or? I was very surprised when I recognized my painting in the top

#407

SaraD,

Any forum leader or admin can plug great artwork. Someone else saw your work in the Gallery and plugged it. Congrats! :applause:

I think it’s great that someone outside of the Workshop is recognizing the great work that is coming out of the OFDWs!

Cheers,

darkened everything down like announced and am having a much easier job now with bringing the high values out…

#409

Hey mu and everyone else! they are all coming along really well , no crits just thumbs up and im really ennjoying watching everyone progress

#410

Updatey!

I know I’ll never be done, so I’ve given up asking if I am. I did implement your suggestions though, becca, so I hope it looks a bit better now.

Mu: I wish I could crit that but I’m not sure what to say exactly. I’m always better at critting colored pieces, no idea why.

#411

Mu,

Darkening definitely helped! Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Clippy,

That’s looking great! I think the changes you made are really working, and made the image stronger.

The subtle yellows are working great I think, and have really brightened the picture quite a bit:

I think you can say you’re finished.

Cheers,

I illegally went to high in the high values, but I am not finished after all, hehehe

#413

Clippy,

When you are totally sure you are finished (use the force and decide) then please post here an 800 pixel wide version as well as a linked hi~res image.

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

#414

ok, worked on this a bit more…mostly around the facial area, trying to get the anatomy right…

mu: i like the start on this, everything looks in place, be great to see some colour…

paperclip: nice update, looks finished to me too…

rebecca: you mentioned the colours, maybe its because ive started this with a dark background, seems easier to get more depth to the colours, greater saturation, coming from that than it is from a light background…

I have consulted the Oracle at Delphi and it tells me I’m finished.

Here’s that 800px wide image you asked for:

krispee,

That’s looking great, keep up the good work!

Clippy,

You have chosen wisely, thanks for the larger images!

Enrique,

Wow, that fabric is looking simply fantastic, I hope you will get the chance to finish this!

Matt,

Congrats! :applause: We’re all really happy for you!

Sabie,

The fabric is also looking amazing, I think my only suggestion would be to start to give the face the same amount of dimensionality. Fantastic update!

Cheers,
