It is great to be able to see how everyone slowly works and improves their study through the weeks (and in some cases increadibly fast). So after some time of viewing, I have decided to join as well this time.
Here are the previous steps. I admit I am doing this with a trial and error approach so far.
And this is where I am now:
I am not sure where I should go from here. I decided to pick that particular artwork because it is by far nothing like anything I tried before and it has been great fun.
My question is: Should I try to recreate the original as best as my abilities allow or should I make a more freestyle approach to it?
It had been great watching everyone with their own studies.
Keep up the good work!
Final step. I finished becouse i started the hard work design project for a week or two.
Thanks All & personally Rebecca.
I shall try to write tutorial after a while, but unfortunately my English is terrible.

Wow, some great paintings here. I love the different approaches and techiques shown here. Great inspiration, as usual :applause:
Here´s my progress on the hat. I´m tired of it now, and leave the last touch-ups for later. Going for folds and rifles now

Thanks DiM!
Yours looks fantastic. Love the feel of your copy.
PureGhostGR, yours is coming along really really nicely. Can’t wait to see where you take it.
mazalo, great work on that, and nice brushwork.
SaraD, holy crap, that’s looking gorgeous. ![]()
maxtormer, I absolutely love the tones you’ve got going in your copy. Can’t wait to see yours develop.
And, since becca evidently wasn’t gonna let me off the hook for this one, I put some more work into mine. This is probably close to two hours, I think. More coming along, but I plan on finishing this tonight, even if it’s just because I can’t bring myself to stare at that pelt for much longer. :argh:

Hi guys,
I’ll be out for a bit so can’t comment on everyone’s just yet (want to give the finished pieces their due attention)
so will come back later for that.
Teck,
That’s a great second coat, can’t wait to see your next update!
Cheers,
~Rebeccak
Second coat… I’m going to keel you, becca. :argh:
Done! No more tiger pelt! I can’t stare at this thing any longer.

I think I’m done!

Will comment on everyone else’s later! Some really fantastic stuff coming out of the woodwork here…
Okay gang, be kind.
This is an initial b&W tonal study for the Sorella piece I’ve decided to do. I’ll get this one done and then maybe head for the other two of the trio. Done in Painter with a greasy pencil. Will start putting color down tonight or tomorrow.
Everyone else, fantastic work. Way to make me feel intimidated! (Not that it appears to be stopping me…)
Wow! I was just looking the entries that everyone did and all works are awesome! I dunno if I’ll be able to do something too, but seeing everyone working on these pieces was really exciting. Congratulations, everyone!
wow… lots of fantastic work still going on in here, and people finishing up so fast! O.o you’re all mad…
SaraD, thats looking better everytime you post! You’ve got the smoothness down to a t!
LoTekk… come ooon, you know you wanna doo more fur detail… its fuuuun, if you happen to be of sadistic persuasion!
Paperclip: I adore that painting, the violets are just perfect, as is her face! Definitely my fave of yours to date.
DiM, nice work there too! The colours in the tiger pelt are lovely, especially the touch of green on the right.
Rebecca, yours is coming on a treat too, i love watching the way you build up a piece from organic shapes
And from me another stage… this takes much longer than i remember! Here’s my tools thus far the colours used were Naples yellow, yellow Ochre, White, raw Umber, Ultra Marine and Burnt Sienna. The naples yellow and the lemon yellow were actually defunct by the time i’d finished the stage below as yellow ochre and white seemed to suffice

and the painting, now with a good layer of acrylic on it. I added some alizarin crimson to the purpley bits in the background and to some of the floor at the front. The first layer of paint was fairly saturated, so mixing in some white and dirtying the sienna with both the blue and brown helped, so far its about two and a half hours work, and it looks like a shut my eyes and splodged paint everywhere… :D:

Very impressive work by everyone so far.
DiM: Very well done! The attention to color is stunning! I have been watching this from the start.
mazalo: I really like the brushwork and the colors. Impressive work!
SaraD: The attention to detail is stunning. I look forward to seeing the finished study. Well done!
LoTekK: Gorgeous pelt! I love the attention to the details in it. Well done!
paperclip: Seriously, that is increadible work, especially the detailed face. Well done!
CoyoteGuy: I love the feeling of movement in it. Great study!
Zephyri: Alot of respect to you for taking this into acrylics. I cannot wait to see more.
Here is my next step. Every time I check the original, I see more and more differences. I have a feeling that my angle might be mixed up.

Morning everyone!
Unfortunatly I’m too busy for an update, but just have to leave some comments here, before I totally lose the track…
Glenn - love the way how the things slowly come out in your painting…we can see, you enjoy it!
Billy - yours is coming along nice, only thing that I see for crit, is the uniform noised and colored background…more variation will do a lot for the scene!
maxetormer - this is a very nice study, you’ve catched the piece with a few strokes!
radical_Seifer - really good start!
Becca - just:thumbsup:
DiM - you’ve already finished:scream: ! Fast work and it looks really good, the work on the pelt is great
SaraD - looks absolutely fantastic so far, and I know what you mean with “tired of the hat”…
LoTekK - congrats for the finished piece, great work and I can imagine that the pelt painting is a pain…
paperclip - just wow! Congrats, this is an amazing piece of work!![]()
Bryan - nice start, I’m looking forward to see more…
Zephyri - great to see another traditional piece started…!
Have all a nice day!

I dont’ remember about time!
About week. About 2 hour per day after work and break of lunch
I have started to draw a pencil on a paper as has forgotten a tablet of the house.
After hour drowing i scanned my work and worked smudge tools with mouse.
http://dimm3d.mail333.com/baron_test/mk11.jpg
Next day’s i worked with graphire.
The technics was extremely simple. On the screen the original and my copy have been opened. I looked at the original and tried to draw a brush that that
saw in is black to white scale. Roughly enough.
http://dimm3d.mail333.com/baron_test/m_copy.jpg
After that I took smuge tool and studied details. Color in the beginning added color on the channel. After a while when I was defined with base colors,
I began to do easier.
http://dimm3d.mail333.com/baron_test/mk_3.jpg
I threw color spots over a surface, and then smeared them achieving volume, well and helped myself dodge? burn and sponge tools. After in general all
has been drawn I began to study details not forgetting to use the blur tool.

http://dimm3d.mail333.com/baron_test/mk_8.jpg
The structure of a wall was drawn in some receptions. First color spots have been drawn, then by means of the burn tool they have been strengthened at
some places. Then very large brush the same tool had been added roughnesses and are washed slightly away. Further I have made of the turned out textural
site pattern a brush and on a new layer have drawn places where there should be cracks. In installations of mixing I have blending parameters of
rejection of a shadow and mixing on the channel of color and transparensy 3-5%. It has added chaos.
after that layers have been flattened. Again smudge both degradation and alignment of shadows. Well and on smooth places for drawing a successful
structure it was used healing brush tool.

Nearly has not forgotten. For a chain armour I drew a special brush.
And all.
Sorry but my english is bad.
