Open Figure Drawing Workshop - NEW BARGUE - 022

#241

hi, heres my contribution to the workshop:

wip, 1 h

wip, 30min

Hi!

My good friend Sirielle convinced me to participate in this workshop and here i am

In first words - I’m quite the amateur, i can draw some things, but they look horrible mostly.
I also never learned to shade, so this is a chance for me…

i’m trying to draw turx’s second model link
My purpose is to simultanously draw with a pencil and a tablet (Which i recently bought and i’m still learning to use)

this is what i’ve made so far (forgive me if it’s hard to see, my scanner is quite old):

Hi all

Shapemaster - Nice work! I like the colours in your WIP, look forward to see where it goes

Glenn - great brush strokes on Antelope, and can see the Spritdreamer palette creeping in, with the purple hues

FrozenSceptre - best way to start a workshop - a friend introduced me to cg-talk through the 50 heads workshop 18 months ago, and I was hooked straight away! Keep posting

Balduran - Good luck! and look forward to more posts

I decided to try and complete a digital version for the workshop - it’s all hideously new to me but I am having a ball! so here’s a wip - not sure how far I can take it:
using photoshop and getting rsi from the mouse

(plan on doing a traditional drawing from this ref as well)

after Gio

cheers all and take care
a.

I don’t paint, but I have a wacom intuos now, so there’s no excuse any more)
This is vladiseco’s version of L’Hiver by Pierre Ler Legros.
About an hour so far.

#245

:buttrock: yay Rod! Excellent start  I think you paint after all

#246

Great work everyone.

Intervain—I like what you’ve got so far. Sorry to hear about the demise of the hi-res version.

Rebeccak—it’s looking good,—love the style of it.

Zhuzhu—Nice pieces. I’m a fan of your tour de force speed paintings.

Oddity—For someone who says he doesn’t draw or paint, you do a pretty good job drawing and painting.

I may not be able to resist a contribution.

Rod…HEY…GREAT TO SEE YOU TRYING YOUR HAND AT PAINTING, AND REALLY NICE JOB SO FAR BY THE WAY. …Drawing and painting, will for sure contribute to making your 3D work, which is already GREAT,…THAT MUCH GREATER…

Annette…THANKS… …That last one you just posted is GREAT.:applause:  Just imagine what you could do, if you had a pressure sensitive pen and tablet… and of course the PAINTER #10 program…:scream:

Quadart…can’t wait to see your piece, and it’s progress…

Glenn

OK,…Enough playing around with my personal vision and painting of Quadart’s FANTASTIC piece, and back to the original…
I learned alot while playing though, and will apply that to the version that i’m going to refine and detail now, which is posted below Quadart’s piece below.
I am pretty close to the colors on the antalope now, just had to desaturate, and add a couple of silver gray spotlight tints, …Just a matter of bringing out the light colors on the antalope now, and getting a better likeness in the face…Will make the fur on it’s main, neck, and body a little more realistic by using the oil brushes that I just discovered last night in the Painter #9 program while playing.

Here’s more… His left hand looks kinda odd…

#251

20 min before slipping work from mistakes. Thanks Anette!!

#252

Hello again

Here’s my BARGUE WIP few ears later:)

Frejasphere: Is it realy done with mouse only (great work so far), or I misunderstand you

Balduran: Maybe you should not pay to much attention to details on this stage of work , but focus on proportion. Nose seems to be a bit to long, and lips to narrow. Maybe jaw should be more angular. Witch of references do you use?

tizianoadmirer: Nice job so far, but i think the left thumb is to big, or placed to low. So whole left hand looks to long.

I know the ears are much easier to paint, but i’m just warming up. I think

cheers

LOOKING GOOD …Zhuzhu…
All of my work is hosted by YAHOO
If you can’t see my pictures, then you are the only one in here, or JUST ABOUT anywhere on the planet who can’t.
The problem must be on your end, not mine…

NEW ONE

#257

Hello all, this is my first time participating in an activity here in cgtalk. Feel free to tear it apart. I am really a slow drawer and here is where I am now, a contour drawing. I will be starting the shading soon and hope I can finish before the deadline while juggling all my school assignments :stuck_out_tongue:

#258

Whoa zhuzhu at the rate your going you’ll probabbly finish the whole workshop in a week.:eek:. Just a question tho. I was wondering if it was possible if you did a step by step for your next piece. Its ok if you can’t. Just seeing your works really inspires me.:scream::scream: Really hope to see more.

Mydrako…GREAT START…

GOING FOR THE TRUE LIKENESS/RENDERING OF THE MODEL THAT I’M WORKING FROM…NO SPEED/SHORTHAND INVOLVED IN THIS METHOD/TECHNIQUE, JUST ALOT OF OBSEVATION AND WORK…,RESULTING IN A FINISHED PAINTING IN THE END…:scream:

Hey BillyZ,

Zhu once did a wonderful series of opencanvas sketches which he saved as playable OC files. This was the reason for me to install the app in the first place…

Anyway, if you either search for his name in this forum or look up the threads he started you will find it!
