It took about 20 min…

chipmasque
Nice colour scheme … the Colour schemes and the style is remembering great master Henri Matise

U said you are drawing using mouse. I suggest Instead of using mouse u can try freehand using a pencil and paper after that u can colour it. :bounce:

Ohhh, I’ve just seen this new workshop and there are already 9 pages with replies and so many good starts around, amazing:thumbsup: !..It’s too good to miss it and I’m so rusty with painting, so I try to jump in it with a master copy:bounce: …unfortuately not before the next weekend.

Well, I’ve had very little time to work on my piece, and what with the vaguaries of Painter giving me touble ive not made a huge amount of progress. Trying out various brushes and paint types but nothing has really grabbed me yet. All seems a bit desaturated.
Anyway, here you go so far:

Samanthie: Thanks. Just getting something down so I have something to work with. one idea leads to another… way of painting…
Where they lead to, no one knows, not even me…:scream:

A little more work on this guy…will work on his mouth next, will try to get a better expression in that area
Started out as a traditional conti crayon drawing, now it is in the painter #9 program…next stop…Z BRUSH…

The WIPs for this can be found in the last pages of my Sketchbook thread, in case anyone is interested

Take care
Glenn

as of a couple of versions ago, i have no idea where i“m going with this piece :).
after some additional sketching, i thought i“d work on the luminance in photoshop, which was way off course. obviously.

som input, perhaps some pointers?, would be nice

Superb work by every1 …really proud to be a part of this workshop with so many talented people around… :applause:

Samanthie: thanku so much… i liked your pencil work, are u planning to go about painting this traditionally or digitally?
sirielle: i am linking your concept …and i think it fits in this workshop if u wanting to continue…
Mdogger : WOW… love the way you are working on this…
SpiritDreamer: i love the mood and effect of ur artwork…looking for updates.
Rebeccak: i am totally impressed with your strokes… so much to learn from all you guys.

Will soon post the updates of my painting.!!:bounce:

#128

here is my first attempt at it.kinda weak since im not able to devote much time to it:sad: great work SD:buttrock:

all c&C are welcome

Damn this thread grows so fast!

Amazing work so far.
I corrected the anatomy using some reference and started the shading of the angel. I hope the shading looks good enough cause it’s not easy to do out of scratch.
Still i fear to do the face. Let’s hope for the best.

cheers

Nimal : Thanks alot… but I think I don`t have enough time to draw it agian via pen
Thanks alot…

Ok here is my new update
If you see any thing wrong in it , please be kind enough and let me know…
thanks

Great to see all the work coming in!

I may do an imaginational piece for this OFDW - to tie in with a painting that I may be working on - to that end, here’s a WIP drawing from imagination, no ref:

#132

SpiritDreamer : Nice work !!!
Rebeccak : Wow …great imagination …i love your way of building the forms by charcoal
havent u start Digi paints in this workshop ??

This a nother update :
I would like to work in BW tones coz i can guest the exact tones, after that i like to colour it.

#133

WOW…Rebecca…POWERFUL DRAWING…:bounce:

Wouldn’t take much to turn that into a FANTASTIC DRAGON…Just some food for THOUGHT and IMAGINATION…:scream:
TAKE CARE
Glenn

#134

Well, I managed to get a bit more progress in. Starting to refine the shapes bit by bit. Trying out a real sword in the angels hand, which is at a slightly awkward angle, and sorting out the angels horrendous hairdo.
Apologies if i’m swamping the thread. Tell me to update previous posts, or not post as much if I’m causing problems.

#135

nimal, thanks! I will be starting the digital as soon as I work out the traditional…I still ā€˜think’ better traditionally, so I’m going to give this way of working from traditional to digital a shot, whereas before I’ve started only digitally.

Glenn, thank you! The dragon idea occurred to me too, I love Rubens’ dragons…

kboss, please continue to post consecutive WIPs - no one goes back to check for updated posts. It’s great to see the process in a linear fashion, so don’t worry about posting a lot of WIPs, it’s really the strength of the Workshop.

Update.

Great work for all !!! That’s a very good exercice.

#137

Samanthie great start on your pencil work. can’t wait to see it with more contrast!

Deracus nice start… mind the proportions though

eduart wonderful to see your progres on that satyr. Maybe add just a bit of peachy orange to his skin here and there

Mercuralis that’s indeed looking very nice. was wondering if it would read better if you would move the characters more to the left (crop some of her wing if you have to)…

deathstarchris great concept… what if their heads would cross more diagonally? it would make the poses even more dynamic I think… just thinking out loud here

nimal wonderful value study as is already!

Nothingness her right foot seems a bit small. looks great overall though!

iman121 Would love to see you make a value study in greyscale

vANON it’s coming along nicely and here’s thinking you’ve already learned a lot which is what this OFDW is for, right?

Glenn… awesome, as usual! Curious about next stage

Rebecca… idem

kboss nice idea to give that character heavy armor. His right wrist/forearm is bothering me… seems too thick

matwire I think his nose is a bit off (angle). Looking great sofar though Keep going!

Keep it up y’all
I’m loving this and i wish I could jump in already myself!

#138

Johan, what is idem? Heh

Composite version:

#139

Thanks for the idea. I might give it a try in my next sketch.

Here are a couple of alternate horn sketches that I feel will better compliment the my final piece - S
