Alright. Thanks for the reply.

#67

Thanks all for the comments!

in a way i’m afraid to give comments at this early stage, so i’ll wait a little before trying to be helpfull.
My progress been slow, but at this point i think i’m ready to start using reference to get anatomy more realistic and correct. I split the image up in 5 parts so i can focus on different objects or characters seperatly.

Cheers

hello every one…Wow this is a lovely workshop. i am a newbie here and have never participated before, but i am regular visitor of this forum… and looking forward to join in soon !!
Great entries everyone!!

#69

I might join in too, but im not sure wich picture i should take. I didn’t finish the last OFDW, but i hope to finish this one.
Correct me if i’m wrong, but i thought the purpose of OFDW is to copy a master and not to come up with an own concept.

Great work so far @all

Mercuralis - This is an excellent start! You have all the elements required for the theme in image. Keep up the great work

Some really nice starts guys. I still have only had time for quick sketches thinking of idea due to work but i ll be off soon so I can get posting.

Matwire: This piece is looking very healthy so far cant wait to see it finished.

MDogger: I really like your brush strokes so far while your building up the forms.

Nothingness: As Joe said interesting concept cant wait to see the developments.

Heres a look at the entire master copy blocked out, now to begin the detailing.
Will start properly this evening

#78

Ha this thread is already grawing at a mad speed! Awesome!

Rebeccak - great sketch - love the loose lines

Mdogger - damn you’re flying with this one! Awesome already.

vincent1 - very impressive start :bounce:

Looking forward to following everyone’s progress…

I’m going to do the Satyr by Rubens and I intend to go all the way through with this one - modeling, sculpting, texturing, lighting - the whole shebang! I haven’t done much texturing in a looooong while so it will be loads of fun and I’m looking forward to this [especially that I suck with lighting :scream:]

Here’s a humble beginning, not much yet - just a couple of hours or so - I’m not that concerned with irregularities in the mesh at this point - just want the geo to match the original painting and still be a 3d model that I could rotate around, which is never easy  and most of the time impossible because of the shortcuts the painters are allowed! Well I’ll do my best!
I love this guy’s expression… hehee…

oh and btw - I edited the guy behind him from the original LOL - just doing one!

Hi everyone. Thought this looked like an excellent opportunity to up my realistic painting skills, along with hopefully getting some decent c&c out of it.
I’ve gone ahead and chosen a master painting that wasn’t on the list; Giovanni Baglione’s Divine and Profane Love. Hope that’s ok. Let me know if i’m not supposed to do that…
Here’s the original for ref, and my very quick start at blocking everything in:
I’ve also decided to try and do this entirely in Painter rather than Photoshop, a programme ive always wanted to get to grips with and this seems the perfect opportunity.
I think what I might also do is possibly change a couple of elements slightly like turn the sword of light into a real sword, and sort out the angel’s terrible hair… Also Baglione did two versions of this picture; this one and another with the devils face showing which I’d like to try and incorporate here.

this is uncanny… Joel have you been prying around in my head? I’d seen this image over on dA: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/47518087/ which struck me as very bougereau-esque and would have made a great painting with an angel and a demon exchanging secrets… and then you come up with this workshop! Colour me tickled! I’m defintely in when I get through this glut of work!
