Thanks all for the comments!
in a way iām afraid to give comments at this early stage, so iāll wait a little before trying to be helpfull.
My progress been slow, but at this point i think iām ready to start using reference to get anatomy more realistic and correct. I split the image up in 5 parts so i can focus on different objects or characters seperatly.
Cheers

hello every oneā¦Wow this is a lovely workshop. i am a newbie here and have never participated before, but i am regular visitor of this forum⦠and looking forward to join in soon !!
Great entries everyone!!
I might join in too, but im not sure wich picture i should take. I didnāt finish the last OFDW, but i hope to finish this one.
Correct me if iām wrong, but i thought the purpose of OFDW is to copy a master and not to come up with an own concept.
Great work so far @all

I think I will dedicate some of my time to this workshop as well. I like the theme of this I am not sure what I will do though hehe. I will post something soon later today.
Hi all
Looks exciting!
Hopefully find some time to jump into this one as well
Will be great to see angels and devils galore
cheers!

Mercuralis - This is an excellent start! You have all the elements required for the theme in image. Keep up the great work ![]()
Count me in for this one, I just got a new Wacom and Iām itching to seriously use it. ![]()
Some really nice starts guys. I still have only had time for quick sketches thinking of idea due to work but i ll be off soon so I can get posting.
Matwire: This piece is looking very healthy so far cant wait to see it finished.
MDogger: I really like your brush strokes so far while your building up the forms.
Nothingness: As Joe said interesting concept cant wait to see the developments.
Heres a look at the entire master copy blocked out, now to begin the detailing.
Will start properly this evening

Ha this thread is already grawing at a mad speed! Awesome!
Rebeccak - great sketch - love the loose lines
Mdogger - damn youāre flying with this one! Awesome already.
vincent1 - very impressive start :bounce:
Looking forward to following everyoneās progressā¦
Iām going to do the Satyr by Rubens and I intend to go all the way through with this one - modeling, sculpting, texturing, lighting - the whole shebang!
I havenāt done much texturing in a looooong while so it will be loads of fun and Iām looking forward to this [especially that I suck with lighting
]
Hereās a humble beginning, not much yet - just a couple of hours or so - Iām not that concerned with irregularities in the mesh at this point - just want the geo to match the original painting and still be a 3d model that I could rotate around, which is never easy
and most of the time impossible because of the shortcuts the painters are allowed! Well Iāll do my best!
I love this guyās expression⦠heheeā¦
oh and btw - I edited the guy behind him from the original LOL - just doing one!

Hi everyone. Thought this looked like an excellent opportunity to up my realistic painting skills, along with hopefully getting some decent c&c out of it.
Iāve gone ahead and chosen a master painting that wasnāt on the list; Giovanni Baglioneās Divine and Profane Love. Hope thatās ok. Let me know if iām not supposed to do thatā¦
Hereās the original for ref, and my very quick start at blocking everything in:
Iāve also decided to try and do this entirely in Painter rather than Photoshop, a programme ive always wanted to get to grips with and this seems the perfect opportunity.
I think what I might also do is possibly change a couple of elements slightly like turn the sword of light into a real sword, and sort out the angelās terrible hair⦠Also Baglione did two versions of this picture; this one and another with the devils face showing which Iād like to try and incorporate here.
this is uncanny⦠Joel have you been prying around in my head? Iād seen this image over on dA: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/47518087/ which struck me as very bougereau-esque and would have made a great painting with an angel and a demon exchanging secrets⦠and then you come up with this workshop! Colour me tickled! Iām defintely in when I get through this glut of work!
