ericyeo,

Just briefly got the chance to look at your piece, and I think you’re doing fabulously! :applause: Really beautiful sense of presence to the model, and it looks as though you are gaining great confidence with color and value rapidly! Keep up the excellent work!

Definitely want to post more about other peoples’ work as well ~ some great work and comments going on! :bounce:

Cheers,

ericyeo! it is nice to see how you incorporated your new knowledge of warmer colors by blood circulation and all that stuff of I think it was last OFDW…
Also, you might not be aware of it, this wip gives away a lot of fascinating information on your workflow with all the little pools of colour and smears where you cut in from the negative space (I guess?)… so, really instructive wip and promising outstanding beauty. really anxious to see the end result.

Mr. Mu,

Your post reminded me that I wanted to mention this book that I read over break to you ~ it’s called:

The Artist’s Complete Guide to Figure Drawing” by Anthony Ryder (artist).
As I wrote in the Anatomy Books thread, this is an excellent book, and not too expensive. The artist is a traditional artist working in pencil ~ his work is HIGHLY realistic and beautiful.

The reason I wanted to mention this book to you specifically is that it covers a method whereby you draw an envelope of the figure first (encompassing all of the outermost points of the figure) and then the contour, and then the interior of the form. I think this is a great method, and particularly applicable to people who use programs which do not allow you to resize the image or canvas.

I’m happy to post more of a visual example later on.

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

Hi Rebecca and Everyone

Another update. Worked on face of latest model. Softened brush stokes around
abdomen ribs and waiste to push them back in space. Leaving brushstokes crisp and spotlighted foreground of figure. Caravaggio’s technique from what I have been able
to find and read about it. Information scarce on him and his technique. Also started modeling with colored brush strokes on model on right. Will make her secondary in composition to model on left using light and shadow after I finish modeling her form.
Will start refining male figure next. Amining for unity in composition using light and
shadow as a directional element. Creating a circular motion within a triangular composition.
Caravaggio style done in digital using Painter.
Alot of work left but having fun and definitely a challenge.
Take Care

Okay, so what have I missed? :scream:

You still working on this Mu~sters? I want to see a final outcome on this! :bounce:Work those feet buddy, I see you holding off! :scream:

Very cool to see you expanding your horizons here! Proportionally, I think the legs seem a bit short. From about her waist downward, I think she looks a bit small. I think it might help the piece to cover the white bkgrd, as it distracts from the figure quite a lot. But I’m really likin’ the color experimentation and as always your confidence with the brushstrokes!

Sweet work! You’re really gaining confidence with proportions, and the feel of the pose is quite natural and relaxed. Hope you keep going with this!

Holy sh**!

The foot, Mr. Mu, the foot…

Le painting of cypherx:

Beautiful work! I love the deep blues of the bkgrd and the cold purplish pinks of the skin. I also think the temperature shift from foot to torso is quite sophisticated, though you could probably exploit the warm / cool contrast even more. I think the arms could be a bit thicker / longer, and the face could use a bit more dimensionality ~ the upper torso is the best, and I think if you worked on the feet, arms, and face, this would be a really exceptional piece!

Beautiful. With the exception of the hand~like feet, I think this painting has a perfect start! :)

Watch the shortness of the right arm. Try to give the face a bit more dimensionality. Lovin’ your colors!!! Tremendous presence to this figure!

  Glenn,

Try not to get caught up so much in the color / mood of the piece, and go for anatomical accuracy instead. Sometimes mood can be a shortcut (I know because I do that a lot) and you don’t want to shortchange yourself or your abilities. Hope to see this piece taken to completion!

  Cheers everyone!!!

Here is a quick update. Hoping to tidey a few things up (hand, Sasquatch foot) and start coloring tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestions before Glen on my previous attempt having “too much hourglass”.

The last pieces are really incredible… with special congratulations to Cipherx… and Ericyeo’s… the first for the originality of the realization… very real and in the same time far of the reality… I like… the second to give us a incredible feeling… don’t know why… tones certainly.

Great inspiration of art with all these pieces… bravo people :applause:

#113

Rebeccak

I´m still here  I´ll give them another try…

#114

Antoher try…

#115

:surprised

man u people are good…

.

#116

Vidar3d,

Very cool. Do you think her right leg may be a bit small? The face and torso are looking really nicely dimensional!

SaraD,

Yeah, she’s back! :bounce: Sweet work…looking forward to an update!

Cheers,

#117

rebecca,

thanks for commenting! Hope you had a wonderful time out there in reality…

I am still working on this and will post an update later (first shy and stuporous indications of feet included).

BTW, got my pm?

#118

Mr. Mu,

LOL, I did get your PM, and it cracked me up…:D…but clearly I am lagging for having not yet responded. :scream: Will get to that soon, I promise.

You and I need to get to our updates!

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

#119

ericyeo,

One thing I am noticing with your exceptional piece, is that the legs seem quite short for the upper torso and head ~ I think giving her more of a pronounced bottom and longer legs would really help, as currently she seems that she might topple over. I quite admire the way you are constructing this painting, however, and look forward to seeing your next update!

Cheers,

So much impressive work.

ericyeo> I am constantly amazed by the hands and feet> nice.

Mecha> really nice loose vibrant style

Some work on the head from me. The airbrush was getting tiresome and looking flat so I’m now trying to give it a more painterly feel.
