AOAH,

Thanks a bunch  though I wouldn’t necessarily agree with part of that statement.

Thanks for the edit.

I’m okay with andy’s words… it’s right that your piece is particulary pleasant… and more

I really appreciate yours too Andy… sweet and soft… and the little touch of red light is a great “plus”… I like these kind of originality which give “style”…

Well now… mine… I don’t think to go more far… a test… and in very short time…
just for the eyes… but take care… no too longer  hahaha

I think the red marks are correction lines…but I like them too!

I like the feel to the face in particular quite a lot…and as always, I enjoy seeing your experimentation. I don’t think one needs to have a set ‘process’ for painting ~ it would get boring that way, wouldn’t it?

Cheers,

dogyears,

Meant to reply to your post this morning, then had to rush to get out the door…

I really like the work you’re doing here, I think the 3 color limited pallette is really helping you to focus on the important stuff, the form of the figure as created by values. :wip: Great stuff ~ look forward to an update!

Cheers,

Lemog/Rebecca;)>> you’re both correct, the red lines were initially part of the construction drawing, but I have started to read them as a a possible rim light- it might just lift her out of the backgound. I’m going to explore that when I get onto the colouring.

Lemog> interesting use of texture, it almost reminds me of the facets on a 3d model, I like the background, it brings a context to the scene which the original photograph lacks.
keep experimenting :wip: it often leads to great things!

Hi there,

lemog - I like that experimentation, too. The facets make it very sensual.

I was reminded by a remark of rebecca that someone (I think it was you lemog, IIRC) told me to use artrage for higher resolution.

So, even though I had a much more advanced start than my new attempt, I think I will give artrage a try for this.

Some thing that is scary about artrage is that you cannot change canvas size once you created a new file, so I marked the most extreme points of the figure with artrage’s tracing function to make sure I don’t have to resize (which I can’t). I erased the tracing layer and blocked in the shape freehanded from there and started on the face.

I think this is my tenth or so study of this pose. It has to lead to something good, otherwise I’m screwed…:scream:

Hi Rebecca and Everyone
Here’s what I have so far. Still some refinements to do, details, etc.
Also playing with composing. Going for triangular structures with a
circular flow. Will add more elements as they come to me.
Just trying to create a nice dreamy feeling with light shadow color
and atmosphere.
By the way, everybody’s stuff is looking fabulous. Seems like everyone’s
loosened up and started experimenting.
Nice

Take care
Glenn

Hi,

quick update:

#74

there’s still have a lots of refinement to be done. :bounce: The detailing are driving me crazy.

#75

ericyeo,

Fantastic! I love the way you have captured the torque and twist of the torso. The feet also stick out to me as especially well constructed and drawn!

Your effort has shamed me into starting my first attempt tonight - thanks for the inspiration. :applause:

#76

ericyeo - this is looking fantastic. Very strong physical presence of your subject. Her left hand is looking great, really.

:bounce:

I hope you can keep it up. I am Looking forward to your updates.

#77

Well, here is my try! Had to go alittle fast though, just a break from my 3D game level.

Hi Everyone
Small update. Just refining and defining with light and shadow using colored brush strokes.
I want a non-photographic painterly look when I am finished.
Take Care

Oh, I guess it makes sense that you can do digital on this considering this is a digital forum. doh!

Ok, I’m calling it a night. I think I have her head tilted too far down. I don’t know why but I had the hardest time with the basic gesture on this pose. It seems simple enough but I fought it and fought it.
