Octopus Building

Hi There,

This week I am working on an octopus-shaped building. It’s an experiment in placing a building in a landscape and using light in an interesting way.

This is the first Sketch. I am going to place red mountains in the red area and grey rocks in the grey surroundings. It is not meant to be realistic.

What do you think?

It looks like a really interesting concept. Where are you planning on putting windows and where is just solid wall? Are you going for a look like the building is built into the mountain rock or just surrounded by it?

Nice, it’s all coming together well :keenly: Do you have any plans for the area outside of the rock surrounding the structure or are you not worried about it because your focus is close-up renders?

The part surrounding the structure will also be made of rock. This is the current state of the image.

Do you want to give a sense of maquette? or you try to give a real size building look.

Because the rocks cookie cut with the building as a big gap. If you translate that into real scale the gaps would be huge like 60m

Apart of that, awesome work so far.

For the orange rocks I’m not really looking for proportions that are correct. I just want to create an image to looks interesting to me.

I think I’m going to remake the orange rocks. I don’t really like the texture and I don’t want the small black gap between the rocks and the concrete.

Great work. Something about the look makes me imagine a landscape where the buildings are formed from the rocks. The orange rocks around the building might look good if they are incorporated as a part of the structure itself. I like the direction you are taking it though. Keep it up!

Thanks for the idea.

It’s interesting to think about a way to incorporate the orange mountains into the building. Maybe I can create some sort of building that holds the orange rocks almost like a child. :slight_smile: Or the rocks “flowing” out of the building itself.
