Hi all. Some days ago I found this tutorial in the net but I’m in trouble with some parts.

For example, in part 4, I can’t drag the material from the model tree to the action file.

Howdy.
Babbage’s tutorial was written for an older version of A:M. The way of controlling materials in Actions has changed.
Here’s the new recipe:
Create a new Action with your model. In the Project Workspace, click on the little + sign next to the Action. This will reveal a shortcut to your model. Notice the funny reddish icon on the right? This is the “Show more than drivers” icon. Click on this. This will reveal a shortcut to the material applied to the model. You can fiddle with material; your changes shall animate over time, obediently, in the Action.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the explanation, Carl. I want to achieve a simple but nice ocean and I think this tuto seems great. Regards.
I’ve got couple of questions regarding this tut, I’m fairly new to AM so please be patient :hmm:
I’m currently using AM 10.5 and can’t figure out how to get to the ‘channels’. After selecting ‘shortcut to dislpacement water’ I don’t get the channel properties or pop up window. What properties should I animate to get same results or what am I doing wrong?
'Lo.
Maybe you have advanced properties turned off? Hit “p” while holding down on the Control key, to get the Options panel. On the Global tab, make sure the “Show advanced properties” and the “Show property triangle” boxes are both checked.
With those options available you should be able to get to every parameter in a material that is animatable. I’ve attached a GIF.
As to what what parameter you should animate, refer to Babbage’s tute, 'cuz I don’t know! I haven’t read his tute.
Hope this helps, a little.
Sincerely,
Carl Raillard
