Obtaining finer image control when matching to plate

#1

Hi,

I’m working on a project at the moment where I must match to a plate. I’ve imported my plate and displayed it using the rotoscope. My problem is that I need to obtain finer control of the viewport when using the camera dolly or orbit, etc. What I mean is that currently if I orbit in the camera view (with the roto displayed) it can’t seem to make fine adjustments, when I move my mouse, the movements are too large and uncontrollable.

Is there some way that I can obtain finer control? I seem to recall that there was a way to do this… but I can’t remember the incantation

Any help or advice would be most appreciated.

Regards,

Joe

Heya

Preferences>Tools>Camera should be what you described.

Awesome!

Thanks Chinny, I’ll give that a go.

It may also sound obvious, so excuse me if I’m stating it as so, but making sure you have your camera viewport maximized will give you a bit more control as well since your mouse movements are relative to the screen size.

Also- there is always numerical input for the ultra fine matching. Depending on the shot I sometimes use that to match plates (often when the camera is not moving).

Thanks! Yes, I always do maximize the viewport for more control, but I needed to go beyond what I was getting from that.

Chinny’s suggestion worked out perfectly, just input smaller values in the user preference panel and it gave me all the control that I needed.

Perfect!

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

Joe
