for those people using directx out there, how would I convert a OBJ file into a .X one?
OBJ -> .X converter?
There are alot of options, some work better than others and it depends what kind of .x file you need to create.
For static model files, I prefer “lithunwrap”. It’s been replaced with “UltimateUnwrap3D”, but can still be found if you Google for it. Lithunwrap is free, UltimateUnwrap3D is $50 (worth it too).
You can also use the conversion utility that comes with the Microsoft SDK and there are many game-oriented 3D apps that include .X file support.
Which one will work for you depends alot on what you need translated and where it’s going to be used. If it’s for a particular game engine, the best thing to do is find out what works for other folks that use that engine.
Hope this helps…
