nVidia/modo issues officially fixed with 66.81...

#1

Someone may already have mentioned this but I noticed this whilst browsing the docs for nVidia’s beta 66.81 drivers. You can find nVidia’s beta download web page here .

My god it works. …well, at least the anoying window is gone when I start. No lets see abouyt the crashing. So far so good, here’s fingers crossed.

testing right now…

Wow! I have been working in modo all day and not a single crash since I updated to this driver… WooHoo!

#5

Me too, not one crash since I installed the new drivers almost 5 hours ago. Compare that to every 10 minutes or less even, before the driver update. Using a GF 4600ti btw.

#6

still get crashes. much more rarely, but i think its some instability with editing forms a bit too much, not actual modelling tasks.

Maybe that’s actually a bug with modo? If nVidia considers the drivers issue to be “resolved” at least bug reports from here on in should relate to issues with modo, not the drivers. At any rate, it’s nice to have modo stable enough to get some serious work done

#8

The Form editing seems to have som odd bugs for sure and I believe that those bugs are within modo, not GPU drivers. It’s reported of course already

#9

OK well I just installed them and I’m using maya navigation and alt+RMB doesnt zoom in like it used to :scream: and by the way I have never got “0” to miniumise or maximise a viewport, what’s going on there?

Maybe your configs are messed up? Rename the modo.cfg file to modo.old and restart modo to see if that helps - both work fine here BTW…

#11

yeah. its fairly obvious. opengl crashes are rare as a whole in 3d apps anyways ( on nvidia cards atleast. i was just saying that these drivers wont cause a miracle and make the app never crash again.

Does anyone know if this driver effects Quadro 4 cards and modo? I have a Quadro 4 980XGL.

Cheers.

I wouldnt recommend this driver as it sent my system haywire. Very slow performance and ut2004 had really bad popups. Anybody else get this? I had to completely wipe it and reintstall another older driver.

Poli: It’ll work with Quadro’s but there’s little point in installing it as modo’s problems were only with GeForce series consumer cards.

dudders: I noticed some flickering in Halo with this driver but at the moment, having modo run stable is more important to me than playing games (well, until Half Life 2 comes out anyway :D) - no other problems…
