Anyone thinking of plopping $1000 dollars down for this card?

with 6GB of DDR5 and a 384bit memory interface… why yes… yes i would… probably.

#3

Very interested in this but I"m not going to drop a grand without seeing some test results, naw mean?

#4

I love the way technology is moving - I’d buy one of these when it’s tried and tested - and perhaps bit cheaper.

#5

wasn’t the 690 close to the same price when it came out

#6

ya it was… given that we have yet to see any OEM variants on the Titan still kinda has the price point a little mysterious.

honestly, this is nvidias throw back to AMD… you know, the usual mines bigger than yours competition. i’m sure once the OEMs get their products out and AMD has their variant, the prices will go down and we’ll be singing the next devices’ praises.

#7

really interested to see if titan is also crippled compared to radeon in viewports…
a lot of forums about that theme so not getting into more details now…

for the price, a bit of a disappointment for gamers for sure… compute nuts will go gaga over it though.

I’ld rather take the ca$h and buy a professional card for that price… but damn, 6GB would be nice.

iray - octane - vray rt - adobe cs6… I wanna see all computing/ gpu rendering benchmarks but with comparisons to quadros please. :deal:

#12

I intend to buy one second hand.

Do you guys know if Maya2013 viewport and Vray 2.3 RT can take advantage of the Dual GPU in GTX690, else, i’m going for the Titan.

Their both going for sale online and well, 6GB does sound decent. Any advice?

#13

second hand card taht is just out, could be a bit hard
in any case none of the applications uses dual GPU nor SLI/Crossfire so…
also if you don’t need CUDA ati would be better option for pure viewport performance
both price and performance calculated in.

#15

I think he means second hand just as a second card, not a used card.

#16

In terms of pure performance I don’t think there’s anything that quite beats the titan right now even between cards of comparable cost.
AMD probably still has the best bang for buck here and there, but as far as pure performance and amount of memory the Titan is the current par of gaming cards, and a good notch above most professional ones as well given it’s not DP crippled.

#17

Actually, second hand. The guy bought it and apparently doesn’t need it. It comes with a receipt and its dated 2 months ago and I know the store he got it from. Thus, i am interested.

Cinebench results are really not that much in favor for Titan over 7970.
It is fact that 5xx series is crippled in viewport performance too.
I would love to see some other real life performance benchmarks to see how titan really performs in viewport.
For example… anyone around have titan and softimage?

GTX 780 is officially announced and releasing this Thursday apparently. Hopefully it is not gimped like the 6xx series. Can’t wait for some benchmarks and pricing.

#20

hey sheep do you have a link for the 780 announcement?
