Pretty gutted that the performance in both octane and redshift is bad compared to previous generation cards like the 780/780ti. Was hoping for a large improvement given some of the theoretical figures and benchmark scores so far.

I’m hoping that it can be fixed with a driver or code update, rather than just being a result of such a miserly bus width :frowning:

I am pretty disappointed too (Octane user here). Let’s hope the issue is indeed the current state of NVidia drivers (as speculated on their forum at least).
If anything though prices of the current gen cards should drop down, there is a sweet deal on the GTX 780ti currently at Overclockers.co.uk here in UK.
And even if the 9xx series turns out to be just as powerful for GPGPU as the 7xx series- it is still more power efficient and definitely better for gaming from what I’ve seen.

i found a link from another forum where someone mentioned the disappointment of this card with octane. they provided a link to the octane site where they are asking users with the new cards to post benchmark results

currently i’m still on a 560ti, upgrading would probably be huge for me but i think i will hold off for now. there are rumors going around that there will be an 8 gig version of the 980 coming later this year.

Some good news, the Redshift devs have identified their issue and are testing a fix. Sounds like its software rather than hardware
