NVIDIA CEO and founder Jensen Huang showed at the GPU Technology Conference today how NVIDIA is advancing the iterative design process to accurately predict final renderings by applying artificial intelligence to ray tracing. What is really needed is:

  1. An open standard like OpenGL for hardware accelerated ray tracing

  2. GPUs that have actual hardware ray tracing circuitry, speeding up renders 10x - 50x times. Maybe even more.

Then you don’t need “clever solutions” like this.

You have actual, superfast hardware ray tracing at your disposal. Everything renders super quickly on hardware custom made for rendering.

If Imagination Technologies - a relatively small company - is working on this, why isn’t Nvidia?
