pushav,

Wow, I must say I am impressed. I do think this sort of blocky / impressionistic painting style is your ‘thing’.

Cheers,

I dunno if it is my thing. People just like it. Not much of a painter. Back to the pencil.

Ack, you’re right. Her head is huge! Like a giant orange on a toothpick!

Had time to do a little tweaking: scaled down her head, tried to realign her feature (I think something is still a little off…the nose?), did some color correction, and did a little roughing in of the skirt.

Nice texturing csgirl.

#131

csgirl,

I agree that the face needs to be reevaluated a bit ~ are the eyes too far apart, do you think? Also, the area where her right eyebrow is intersecting with the beginning of her nose is giving her a bit of an unintentional sinister expression. I think it’s good that you’re bringing the entire painting up at once ~ compositionally, I think this is going pretty well.

Looks good so far! Looking forward to seeing your next update.

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

Hey, just thought I’d show my face again seeing as i kinda disappeared after the 3rd or 4th life drawing workshop thing. I moved to uni and have been without internet for about a month . Finally have it again though so ill hopfully be getting back into some drawing again although ive got major projects and stuff to do now as well . Hopefully ill post something in a few days and ive got some images to go in the other threads ive been doing during the break. Just one other thing i was just wondering if anyone knows where i can get knows where i can get some references of african males? Ta. Also wanted to say the drawings that hve been done so far are looking great, hope i can do something equally good

Hi Rebecca and everyone
Trying to make a beautiful painting with bright warm colors - hot actually -
Want colors vibrant
Am not trying to imitate photo
Phot already has its own beauty
What would be the point of duplicating it?
Next step go into it with oil brushes
refinement of forms
Hopefully it will have a luminous glow to it when I am finished
A tranluciance that the light reflects the color from within
Like a pearl does
Definitely a experiment for me.
Any help would be appreciated.
Question - If you are not supposed to use filters then why are they available?
Artists have always used the most modern tools at their disposal
that is how art has evolved and progressed.
Some great works happening in this forum by the way. Amazing.
Take care
Glenn

PS Pushav: Thanks and keep up the good work.
