Amerasu: Thanks. And wow great result! while maybe not too musle-defined nor is it on high-contrast but overall your work just “breaths”. really dig your tones and soft-lit style. More please.

csgirl: great stuff! your final one for fig 2 is really striking, very fine use of dramatic lighting. and damn you’re quick too, very nice on the last wip and hey your steps are quite similar to mine:)! looking forward to your next updates.

zhay13: good start so far, shapes and proportions looks good! my 2-cents is to save those highlights a bit.

drawMonger: looking good. cool style and if the left hand rendering is an indicator on what you planning to do, than we can expect amazing result from this piece!

anim_ziggy: nice blocking so far, proportions looks good. but hei wait i haven’t seen that pose before, is it for this class or class 06’s started already?? Rebeccak!!!

thejeff: wow! i’m impressed! great technique and cool style. more please!

Xillion: nice sketch so far! some proportions and shapes look off a little but it’s understandable since it’s just a quickie, and i’m sure you’ll be able to tackle those on next steps. look forward to your updates.

tonight’s update. play w/ and define skin tones, and also corrected/added some details.

Keep up the good work, every one!

Thanx b2dermawan! I’m loving your picture so far, the color especially. Great job!

#104

Gah! I am getting grossly behind on this fabulous thread. I can see that Ben and Liang are inspiring many.

thejeff,

I am terribly sorry, I saw your text post the other day, but not your images. Thanks for pointing those out! Indeed I see the Rubens influence, and you have chosen to emulate one of my favorite artists! Kudos to you!

Your work so far looks quite solid, and I like the chalky, not overrendered feel of your piece. Excellent stuff, and I look forward to seeing more! Do you plan to paint this piece?

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

#105

Hi Rebecca
Just starting on this.Planning on refining it, figure, dress, etc.

#1: Original color no tints or filters. Cold colors

#2: Various tints and spotlights. Trying to warm it up with color

#3: Applied one light red tint, to unify colors and give it warmth.

Thanks Mike. She is beautiful and of course thank you Liang. Very inspiring.

Everyone’s stuff looks great so far. Nice poses, Ben. Will try to work on one of them when I finish Liang.

Noob: Nice drawings

Take care.
Glenn

Softening up the harsh edges…and I, er, got distracted for a while by the background. =p

Hehe thanks Ben

[QUOTE=Amerasu]
enialadam Very nice! I especially like the style. The two areas I noticed that seem a little out are his left arm, specifically the lower part of it and the hand. His left leg also seems a little thin at the thigh. I understand you’d have to do a new version to fix those areas but thought I’d point them out just in case

Thankyou  Beautiful painting you have there

NOOB!: Thanks  nice hatching!

Amazing work here everyone, if I can find the time I might do a couple more sketches later today, during my free periods at college

Thanks again

#115

Amerasu: thanks, glad you like it.

#116

as usual shading is great zhuzhu, but again u have made things a lil thin, like his right arm and left leg.

#117

I’m not sure there’s a problem with the thickness of the arm and leg, as the torso looks too wide (kind of a glass-half-full thing.) It seems like the pose in the photo has more of a “pulling in” or croutch to it. The right shoulder pulls up higher and the torso is closer to the left leg. I do like the rendering though. The rough surface gives a nice texture.

Spirit Dreamer,

Really lovin’ the shift in color scheme here. I would try just purely painting at earlier and earlier stages, without relying so much on the filters. You have a good start, but the axes of the face are somewhat distorted (though I’ve seen you turn these around several times now) and have faith in you.

csgirl,

Nice bkgrd ~ and this is coming along well! However, I think that you need to reconsider the axes of the face, and the proportions of the body to the head ~ I think her body is a bit small (or her head a bit big) at this point. In truth I think you just ought to shrink the head a bit to match the body. The color scheme is really working, and let’s just see you go crazy with that fabric!

zhuzhu,

Great sketch as usual, but I prefer your rougher, more ‘artistic’ pieces ~ this one feels a bit dated, like an advertisement from the 1950’s. The line at the bottom of her dress is great, I would love to see you do a whole drawing in this kind of really loose, gestural style. Great stuff!

Oh, wait, just saw your second sketch ~ now that’s the zhuzhu I love! :scream:

Lemog!!!
Great to see you back, if only to peek in every now and then! :bounce:It was such a blast to have you in OFDW 002, and I hope you can join us again sometime after the Challenge is over and you’ve won your BOXX!!!:bounce:

Great stuff, guys!!!

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

zhuzhu: it’s great to see you try new things yet still maintain that zhuzhu’s kick ass style. inspiring stuffs.

csgirl: yeahcool background! (is that a christmas tree?) also interesting expression on her face. got to agree w/ rebeccak about the head proportion though. look forward to your update.

Spirit Dreamer: Nice enviroment set-up so far. thrill to see your next steps as usual.

tonight’s update: mainly tackling the dress and add small things here and there. guess i’ll leave it for now and move to next figure.

Wow, b2, your last post made me smile. Beautiful work on the dress, and overall this is a beautiful piece so far. I think it lacks something compositionally in terms of the largeness / bareness of the bkgrd, in which she seems to lose presence. What about experimenting with cropping this piece in a more interesting way (saving the original of course before cropping copies)? But overall, outstanding work!!!

Cheers,
